I was posting this at the end of another thread and thought it'd be useful to have a topic tshow and discuss images and clues.

First off, the new LOST promo title, has the island reflected in the water but the reflection is a city skyline, not the island. (see below)

I took this and blew up the upside down reflection to better see the 'skyline'

Someone mentioned theyheard it might be a Hong Kong skyline. I looked and it didn't match up very well (different angkes..who knows?) I had my own theory that it *could* be Australia, since that's where flight 815 originated from, so I took the Sydney skyline and put it on top of the LOST reflection 'skyline' (see below)

Hmm interesting, I have seen the skyline before but never in that way. It might be the LA skyline? I don't have a picture of it to post, but it does look similar to the Sydney skyline. Interesting...

That's what I thought - the angles are not perfect but the 'highs and lows' of the buildings seem to line up quite a bit.

has anyone seen any of the season 4 promo posters? of the two that i have seen, one has ben and sayid standing against each other back to back and another has ben sitting with sayid and desmond over him...i know it might be reading into it too much but then again they do like to drop those subtle hints

Well, let's not get off the track of this thread but I liked it. It seems to get a mixed reaction. I don't know if you've heard, but in typical JJ Abrams fashion there's a twist at the end where some people are seeing the monster fall to Earth off of Coney Island.

So from left to right we have: Ben and Sayid standing back to back...Kate on her own but overlapping Claire a little bit.... Claire, Hurley, and Jack and then a divide between Jack and Locke....Sawyer is right behind Locke, "has his back" so to speak... a little separation and then Jin and Sun together... Desmond out in front of them and then Juliet just behind him.... and then of course the skyline and number 6 in the water... I think they are telling us just as much in the blocking of the characters as they are with the reflection

that triumvirate on the right looks pretty intriguing and pretty scary don't you think? you've also got kate stuck between jack and sawyer but with her leg flexed towards sawyer but could just as easily be holding jack's hand since it's out of sight.... hurley seemingly protecting claire, his friend charlie's old girl.... jin and sun together like in the other one... and then the intriguing pairing of Juliet and Locke.... gives you some interesting things to think about....

Instead of a city skyline, I think it looks like greek ruins. It would be a closer shot, and it would be dilapidated columns instead of skyscrapers. And that would support the whole Atlantis theory.

Yah no doubt a city skyline....and I see what you mean about Ben and Sayid being next to each other. May not have any significance but very interesting nonetheless :)

Ben cannot be one of the Oceanic 6 since the Oceanic 6 have to be on the flight manifest.... it is also generally hypothesized by many people on here that Kate can not be an official Oceanic 6 member because she seems to be free in Jack's flashforward so they would have to change her identity which would point to there being 7 people that come back

Hmm not sure...perhaps the copter represents the helicopter thats rescuing the Losties from the island...maybe they fly back to the city?

I don't think it's any city in particular. Some of the buildings have this odd line next to them. It almost looks like someone took the same building and resized it. So some of the buildings could actually be the same building. If they picked any particular city, people would be able to figure it out easily by focusing on a few landmark buildings.

If I was creating a picture like this using Photoshop, I would probably take shortcuts by reusing the same building more than once. Grab buildings from various skyline photos, trim out everything around them, and then paste them on my photo. Since it takes some time to trim out each building, I would use the same building more than once and disguise it by just resizing it. After I got them all on my photo, I'd then play with shading and other stuff to disguise them a bit more.

Anyone notice the shadow in the water?

Looks like a "6" to me. Maybe for Oceanic 6.

the more i look at it and the more i think about it i think it's definitely LA.... although, they use it in a few different promos and now it's even the background while you wait to use the abc player and i'm not sure that they're all the same but several of the ones i've seen are LA i'm pretty sure....

and yes that's a 6 for the oceanic 6 in the water

Judging by the metaphor of the city always being in the water.... maybe the plane crashed in water while simultaneously smashing through the dome of the island....

I was born in L.A. and I think it looks like the skyline. From a distance it looks like the city is giving you the finger! Sorry, but the skyline has always reminded me of that- like it was broadcasting that "only the tough can live here" so deal with it! Very suggestive of the island I think.

I believe Ben COULD be part of the O6. I know he would have to be on the manifest, but how about this as a theory...

Ben takes the name of someone that was on the manifest but doesn't have any family or friends. That could be his way to get off the island so he could go after the people that he wants to kill back in "normal" time.

After re looking at this picture this time, something came to mind. Has anyone took the island pic and overlapped it with this "skyline" pic? Looking at it upside down ( island pic ) It appears to me that maybe its the island but it's terrain has changed. Some of the wide mountains ( still with same width) became "skinner" and multiple "towers" within its width. That was what I was wondering. But if someone is capable of overlapping this pictures, I'd like to study it if the comparison is close, if it's definitely off comparison... then lets just forget I mentioned this possibility :).

Believe it or not, it looks more like Chicago than any other ciy that I've seen. Maybe seen from closer in across the water so that the buildings are more singled out.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that it's 1) totally random or 2) a combination of several different skylines (Sydney, Portland...?)

It also might have simply been a hint that this season the story was moving from the island to the mainland and the location has nothing to do with anything.

I don't think that it looks like any Hawaii city skyline.

I attached a photo of an overlay of Chicago on the Lost skyline and it really matches ! The only thing is that I think that it's taken closer to the city and looking up at a sharper angle, so that the buildings are separated more, also more to the left over the water than most pics are taken.

I was trying to figure out why Chicago and the only thing that comes to mind. Rt.66 from Chicago to LA 2000 miles all the way.
