I'm almost positive that the writers are giving nods to the theories we fans have discussed on these forums. For instance, Jin stops to drink water from a leaf. Jack lands in the bamboo. Before Charlotte dies she talks about not being allowed to eat chocolate before dinner. We spent time this summer and fall talking about Jack being in the bamboo, the essential meaning of water on the island, and the real idea behind the Apollo Bars. Has anyone seen other nods by the writers to the far flung ideas we've debated about, being put in the show? It's just possible they are doing this as a nod to the fans......or is it me just wanting to believe we have an effect on this show? Thoughts?

HAHAHA I thought it was a DEFINITE nod to the fans when in 'Because you left' they had Sawyer walk round the entire episode with no shirt on and then demand shirts off people - it was too much going on about him being shirtless not to be for the fans! :D

we whined and moaned all summer long about the fact that he wore his shirt too much in season 4 and did not fulfill his topless quota and when i saw that i had to think.....did they hear us? LOL! :D
i agree BB, sometimes there seems to be these little things going on and its all too much of a coinkydink ;)

I swear, when I saw that, and then heard the line 'Someone give me a shirt' I definitely thought it was a nod to us, or people like us who were demanding more of shirtless Sawyer! It made me laugh anyway! :D

That's exactly what I'm talking about Turnip Queen!! Will Faraday speed up his slow talking? (Or get slower?) LOL With Ben being all beaten up like that, I'm thinking that was a tidbit for all the Anti-Benaphiles!! But also to someone like Lockeing that Ben is going to be around for a while!! LOL And if you stop to think about it, what of the major discussions on the white tennis shoes? Lo and behold there's a scenario on Locke having to wear Christian's shoes!! It's just too coincidental!LOL

HAHAHAHA! I'm sure they must read some of the fan's views to see has anyone figured out where the show is going etc, and along the way they probably have a laugh at some of the stuff we say and put it in to the show!

well its an for ever evolving show, with a serious loyal fan base.it would showsome appreciation for the fans, not that i want to see sawyer with out his shirt. but if it keeps female viewers watching a sci fi style show , that maybe they wouldnt really be into, then so be it.
i like the idea of kate top less though, or more of here running around in her painties.;)

Well I certainly wasn't complaining about shirtless Sawyer or shirtless Sayid. They should definitely show more of that!

Beach, oncce again you make a great point! I also agree that they hear us fans. I am a firm believer that they read postings both here and on other forums. Of course, ours is the best!

This is the cleverest, most energetic and diverse of forums, I say!! I love this place and the creative minds and intelligence you see in the thinking here. And, I must say, you have done some of your absolute BEST work lately, Notso!!! Do you wear dark eyeliner BTW? ;)

When Ray Sheppard was introduced to be Jack's grand-dad, I thought it dis-spelled the theory of Jacob being Jack's grandpa. But, people will believe what they want to believe.

I think the writers do these things specifically for fans.
Remember last season when the Oceanic 6 were having the press conference? Every single question they asked came directly from fan questions!
Why is Hurley still fat after being on an island?
How can you explain Kate having Aaron?
etc. etc.

This is one of the threads about the writers taking our discussions and using them as they write the show--or so it seems in some instances. Since it came up on another thread I'm posting it here. Add whatever you like.
The thought just occurred to me that we had discussed how the Losties didn't confide in and really communcate with each other. So in Season 5 they are sent back to a place where they seem to have to be doing a lot more opening up to each other. What do you think?

I don't think Kate is fulfilling her topless and skin quota. {as I rub 2 sticks together here in private}

Seriously though these are questions anyone would ask. These are questions that we wouldnt expect to be asked anyway.
In a podcast TPTB were specifically asked if they would change or write scripts based on fan discussion and they did say that the story they have in mind was never going to change or has changed to satisfy fan concepts of the show. They said they have their story line and werent going to be influenced by fan "wants and needs" so-to speak. The fact that Sawyer had his shirt off is not a shocking outcome, considering the fact that he jumped out of a helicopter and had to swim an unknown distance to shore. So his shirt being off doenst necessarily mean TPTB were giving you(you women) what you want. How many epis was he shirtless for anyway? Sorry I just dont think that they are satisfying womens need to see him shirtless. Too trivial to the show. Lets face it, there are as many guys watching Lost as women and we dont see Kate or Juliet walking around in her bra as much as we would like. TPTB know this but still arent doing it. His shirt being off was connected to the story. Its not like he was like "Man I been on this Island this long and havent had much sun, I am losing my tan, Let me take my shirt off and get some sun." Remember the Island skipped to a time prior to them being there, there was no camp anymore, it was gone, wasnt built yet, So where would he get his shirt? Do you think they designed the scene so Sawyer would jump out of a helicopter justso he have to take his shirt off to swim just so you women can drool? I dont buy it for a second. Sorry. think the only "nods" they have done is answer some questions for fans since there was many fans becoming disappointed with all the questions and no ansswers being given. but thats jus t what I think.
