Start from the assumption that Aaron has been taken from Kate somehow. It's conceivable that whoever took him away dragged him into the past -- at an age young enough to be completely assimilated into another culture -- like, for instance, Denmark's...

It seems to me sooner or later we have to meet Hanso (or his great-grandfather) and it's more likely than not we've already met him.

Yeah, but Faraday proved that you could when he banged on the hatch and told Desmond to find his mother. He changed the past and as such, Desmond woke up in the future with a "dream" that he needed to go to Oxford. So, you can talk with people in the past, even if you hadn't done it before.

wrong! desmond is the execption if uve seen "flashes before your eyes" you should know that he can change things but hawkings(first apparence til season 5) tells him to not change it

Well Desmond's case is different because Faraday mentioned that Desmond was uniquely and miracleously differnet in that the rules didnt apply to him. If you noticed when Faraday knocked on the hatch door and Desmond came out in the bio suit as they were talking and the light flash started, Desomnd was aware of it as well. This is very dissimilar from all the other instances where the Losties were encountering an "Other" and a time flash was going to occur, example, Ethan confronts John after shooting him in the leg and John Locke talking to Richard Apert in the tent.

Well, yes, but the other people on the plane (316) saw that flash as well.

I know Desmond is supposed to be different, just saying that even if he wasn't different, they met in 1996 which is why they could still talk in whatever year it was that they did.
