Island = Limbo???

Hello fellow Lost fans! I am brand new to this forum so please forgive me if this has been mentioned before......

Is there anyone else out there who thinks the island might be LIMBO?? You know the place between Heaven and Hell where people who have the potential to get into either after life go to prove they are worthy of one or the other??? And could Ben be the Devil? He seems to know everything about everyone, and he is a master manipulator. It seems to make sense to me. When someone on the island “dies” they would then go either to either Heaven or Hell. Is it possible that the island is Limbo the “Waiting place”? If you think about it, all of the people on the island have the potential to be “good” enough to get into Heaven but they also have pasts that could possibly have condemned them to Hell.
Here are some of the reasons I have come to believe in this possibility:

People our characters know to be “Dead” show up in the jungle on the island (example: Christian) are they awaiting their entrance to Heaven or Hell?

People who need to get back to the island are not “Allowed” to commit suicide (Michael / Locke etc.) because that would earn you a one way ticket to Hell.

Could the O6 have left the island and gone to “Heaven” the real world? While Ben is trying to get them back to the island to manipulate / tempt them into going to Hell in stead?

And last but not least: Charlotte’s comment, “This island is DEATH!” seemed to confirm my belief.

Everyone here knows so much more than I do. I would really love for some of you to share your thoughts... :confused:

I am a new poster here too, but also had the thought that the island is a sort of gateway (to many things, including possibly "heaven and hell"). Though TPTB have said our Losties are not dead, they have not discounted the possibility that some of the players on the island are. I don't think they have discounted the purgatory idea either.

TPTB said that the island was NOT purgatory, though it was a good thought. =) the only way a thread can be moved is by a Mod. Or you could just let it die.
