I don't know if I missed something in my viewing (haven't been able to rewatch last weeks episode yet) but I keep going back to a central question about last weeks episode.

Did Widmore know Locke was leaving the island and set up camp so he could be there to rescue him? It appears that way because the only other explanation I have for why they were there with a camera on him was that the camera had been there the whole time. Catch on to what im asking?...IF the camera was there all this time waiting for someone to show up in Tunisa, WHY didn't Widmore see Ben show up there and capture him then?? He was willing to send a personal army to the island to kill Linus but didn't confront him when he had the chance in Tunisia?

Say I'm wrong about the whole camera operation existing when Ben left the island; that would present my first point - Widmore KNEW someone would be leaving the island and was waiting for them (presumeably Locke)

Personally I think I'm on to something....thoughts/feedback

I think the men who found Ben in the desert were Widmore's men.

In Widmore's own words, Ben tricked him into exile. Widmore thought John was exiled because of the location in which he was found. We know John turned the wheel and landed in that location, so I think it is reasonable to assume Widmore also turned the wheel.

Since Widmore knew of the location someone lands after turning the wheel, he was having it watched, (the two men who found Ben). Those men would probably would have captured Ben had he not escaped from them.

I don't think the camera was always there. But I do think that the two people who found Ben in Tunisia were sent by Widmore. After they failed to capture Ben, Widmore realized it would be better to set up the camera system and monitor anyone leaving the island.

That's how I saw it anyway.

do you think that maybe widmore is trying to get john to turn the wheel to replace him, therefor changing the future of perhaps the whole world?

I have started rewatching last week's episode to prepare for tonight. Wanted to add on to some of my thoughts from earlier.

1st - Widmore references the man that exiled John by saying "HE" - NOT BEN! does he maybe mean Jacob? I am going to theorize that is the case

2nd - Locke tells Widmore that Ben wasn't even on the island when he left, so maybe Widmore doesnt know this til now. Moving on with this thought

3rd - Walt was having dreams of Locke, was Widmore having these same dreams (we've heard him mention dreams before), and knew Locke would be coming off the island?

4th - really out-there thought but did Locke play Ben when he let him turn the wheel??

I think Locke may have another encounter with Widmore so maybe that is how Widmore knew 'when' John was going back to.

I also think Widmore just had the area in Tunisia being watched and was not expecting Ben and that is how his men got killed. After that Widmore had cameras installed.
