Miles And Daniel.....last Names.....?

we have all gotten into great discussions about the theories behind daniels last name but what about miles....remember when miles, daniel, jack and kate are in the jungle and miles says to daniel "don't tell him my last name".....why was he so worried about jack hearing his last name....maybe he would recognize it..what do u all think...any ideas (don't know why this tiny thing has been bothering me but call me crazy ...can't help it):confused:

Well when I watched the "captioned" version of the episode that introduces Miles, his last name is Straume which is a play on the word "maelstrom" which means a powerful whirlpool or a swirling mass of water. The name is also an anagram for "mutes realism" but not sure if that means anything or not??

yeah dz is right, and i think miles not wanting daniel to say his last name didnt have anything to do with what his last name actually is, but rather miles was just trying to get daniel to stop running his mouth and revealing all their information

Yah the captioned version also DID say that the woman with Daniel in his home was in fact a caretaker. So there must be something wrong with him? I wonder why they needed him of all people for this mission?

i think he obviously has some severe issues but along with those issues comes a great gift for scientific inquiry in some way or another... it looks like he might be somewhat of a savant but instead of being an idiot savant and having a mental handicap he seems to have an emotional or social handicap... perhaps he will be the one to uncover many of the islands scientific secrets, much in the same way that the mentally challenged man in the film "Cube" helps solve the Cube's system

Yeah I'd have to go with Ben or even Hurley....I love both their characters for very different reasons.

I know I agree...I liked the Hurley from season 1 and 2 who built the golf course and played ping pong....not the Hurley that rats out his friends :( But I agree Ben is becoming a really cool character....that and I like Sawyer too but his bad ass character is becoming a bit nicer now.

Eh she's alright I guess....I think Claire is prettier than her personally. My hotties are Desmond and Sawyer....Jack has been getting on my nerves lately. There's really not too many people on the show I don't like.....I was never a fan of Michael AT ALL, but I loved the whole Libby and Hurley storyline. Then they had to go and kill her off damnit.

Yeah, Jack has been bugging me alot too lately. Claire is hotter but Juliet is a sneaky pick. Love the underdogs. Michael bugged the sh#t out of me. Never a fan of his. Although in the missing pices clips he seems more human.

i just mentioned this on another thread, but i think that Miles is the son of the original dharma initiative guy--the asian scientist in the videos locke found. that's why i think he didn't want his name known, and i think that is why he was chosen for the "mission". ghost hunting a plus on that island! :)

i highly doubt that, especially because marvin candle always uses a candle related alias, unless they really are triplets... so as far as we know his last name is not straume like miles' is and just because they're asian doesn't mean they're related... plus we have nothing to show that marvin candle ever left the island so miles would've died in the womb if he was his son...
