I especially liked the part regarding Einstein's theory of relativity and how, with sufficient acceleration, go into the future without physically aging but a year or two....hmm sound familiar??

I'll have to try it tomorrow it's too late for me to think about that stuff right now. LOL Plus I will hae to go soon.

omg....does sound familiar...heavy reading for this late....but i love this part...and it reminds me of when ben talks about the box and then lockes dad appears in the box....also love the parallel universe idea.....great link dz..thanks
But until someone looks into the box, both possibilities of the cat's life remains likely, in a "superimposition of states." The cat is both dead and alive at the same time. As soon as someone opens the box and checks the condition of the cat, the superposition of states collapses and either possibility becomes real. So when the universe is faced with "choices" at a basic level, it decides between them at random, according to the laws of probability. It also says that the choice is not made until the quantum event is observed. Some physicists, distraught by Shrodinger's thought experiment, came up with a "solution" - at every situation that creates a probability wave on the quantum level, the universe splits into all the universes for each outcome, but we can only experience one of them.

For some reason this reminds me a little bit about Charlie and Desmond. Desmond said the universe course corrects itself. He also said that Charlie had to die. But for some reason I feel like Desmond was supposed to keep saving Charlie. Desmond said before that he thought maybe it was a test... Just a random thought I don't know it's probably nothing.

So does anyone else think it's possible Desmond was supposed to keep saving Charlie instead of letting him die?

no i think that u are on it on so many levels...i saved it and will read more into it....i am the same way...my keys are wearing down on my laptop from performing multiple searches.....one site leads to another leads to another.....omg what will we all do when its over...navy is rite..huh

maybe thats the thing he was meant to back and do - we all assumed it was presisng the button but now the hatch has imploded, he is no longer doing that so why did it matter at which point he stopped pressing the button and turned the failsafe key?
good link DZ - really interesting and i semi understood it lol! not really getting the how to BUILD wormholes bit though.
the aging part is again connected to gravity. it's known that people in space age faster than on earth, because of the lack of gravity. you can see a brief explanation here http://weboflife.nasa.gov/currentResearch/currentResearchGeneralArchives/agingSpaceflight.htm
so on the island there's obviously the opposite effect - people age slower and heal faster. note that this has nothing to do with the real age of the organism (thus, a baby would stay a baby for longer), but those are just certain characteristics. just like with the time difference - time does not change, the clocks just start ticking faster or slower. real age = time and time never changes. time is the speed of light / rotation of the earth

Yah its all pretty confusing to me but it seemed to make some sort of sense. Also I wanted to add (and I'm sure this isn't news to you haha) but in 'Flashes Before Your Eyes', when Desmond seems to go back in time and remember everything about the island, he goes to the pub with his friend who is a physicist. He sits him down and specifically asks him "IS time travel possible?? Is it possible I have some how managed to go back in time and now I'm living my life over again??". His friend basically tells him that its not possible but I just wanted to show that the show has DEFINITELY put time travel as a possibility....I had just forgotten Desmond asked that.

Thanks, DZ, for the very interesting research. Brainstretching to say the least. How many others have been off the island and have generated parallel universes? Ben appears to have done something like that. I bookmarked the page so I can go back and read it again.
