Why would Ben kill Locke when Locke was going to kill himself. Was it because he mentioned Mrs. Hawkins and Ben knew he talked to Loche and then Ben no longer trusted Locke so Ben killed Locke..It doesn't make sense to me...can someone give me a clear explanation?????I think I am LOST LOL...

Ben wanted to get back to the island. Since he turned the wheel, he was exiled, but he found a loophole. Since the island wanted the Oceanic 6 back, he could get on the same plane and sneak back. Basically, he cheated the system. However, in order to do it, HE had to be the one who got the gang back together. If Locke had done it, they wouldn't have let Ben go with them, but by using Locke's death, he could convince Jack, and Jack could convince the rest. But, Ben couldn't do it without knowing about Hawking. Once Ben told him about Hawking, that gave him the plan. That's my theory, anyway.

I agree. Ben was all set to work with Locke until he found a reason that he didn't need him (reason=Hawking) and could bypass Locke for his own selfish reasons.

Honestly, I'm wondering if the Island is Catholic (jk). There are a lot of Catholic beliefs brought into the show, though. So I was thinking that if Locke had killed himself then it would not have worked. I don't think the Island can bring back a suicide. That's just a guess though. I think Ben did it because it had to be done, but Locke wasn't allowed to do it himself.
