Hi, this is my first post so please treat me nicely!
I've been rewatching the first series and it occurred to me that Sawyer in the series, adopts his name from the real conman who he blames for killing his mum and dad. Do we ever see that conman later on? I wondered whether it was worth further thought as to whether this person might actually be revealed at some point in the future? Obviously we know that the first Sawyer was manipulative and evil, and we do know someone else with those characteristics.......
Another point worth raising, is who left the airplane for Kate in the safety deposit box? is that also someone we know? Kate says is was from the only man she ever loved.....
Finally, go back and take another look at the episode where Liam is trying to convince Charlie to stay in the band (The Moth?). They have a conversation outside the church and a man walks past that bears a remarkable resemblance to Christian Shephard, he even seems to acknowledge/wave to someone else that is there. Does anyone else think this could be him?
Looking forward to discussing these points with you all

The original Sawyer was Locke's father. Remember the "magic box" thing? It brought, or Ben brought, or whoever brought Locke's father to the island. Locke is supposed to kill his father, but he can't. Richard gives Locke our Sawyer's file, so Locke figures out that his father also conned our Sawyer. Locke tricks our Sawyer into a locked room in the Black Rock where Locke's father/original Sawyer is tied up. Our Sawyer is confused, but once they start talking he realizes who the other guy is, and he kills him. I've seen all the episodes so many times, they kind of blur together, so I can't tell you exactly when (season/episode wise) this happened, but in show timeline it happens soon after the Others leave the barracks to go to the temple.
The only man Kate ever loved was the guy that she accidentally killed in the car accident while running from the hospital after trying to see her mother... Kate goes to see him (he's a doctor at the hospital her mom's at), they go to the tree and dig up their time capsule, and inside find the airplane. They hang out for a bit, and then go to the hospital so Kate can see her mom. The mom starts yelling "help" and security comes.. she runs, the guy (I can't remember his name!) runs with her for some reason.. at one point she tries to make him get out of the car, but he won't. She keeps driving, crashes, he dies, she gets out and runs but not before grabbing the airplane. I have no idea who left the airplane in the box, I think it's irrelevant.. It could have been Kate. Who knows. The important part is the man you're wondering about is the man in the scene I described.
I know the scene you're talking about with Charlie and Liam.. I've never noticed anyone like Christian Shepard. I have a feeling that if it were him, someone would have noticed by now.. like, there would have been a screen shot or something a while ago.. it's interesting though!

I believe Edward Mars, the Federal Marshal who escorted Kate on Flight 815, was the one who put the toy airple in a safe deposit box.
I think the toy plane was in Kate's posession when Mars first arrested Kate when she was trying to go to Talahasse. I'm guessing he took all of her posessions, and from there put the toy plane in a safe deposit box. In the season 1 finale, while Mars is explaining why he needs 5 guns to escort Kate, says he told Kate he put the toy plane in a safe deposit box.

This was in The Brig, I think. Whatever the word is that they refer to a jail on a ship. I think it was in Season 3.

As time goes on and when you watch repeats you'll see the characters intersecting each other - Hurley's dad is watching EXPOSE on tv, the show with Nikki. When Ben comes to the hotel in Tunisia Sayid is on tv - it happens alot you have to watch the background in LOST

My favourite cross-over. (Because it's the first one I remember)
When Boone goes to an Australian cop about Shannon's boyfriend, Sawyer has been arrested and gets dragged in. He kicks Boone's and the cops desk as he does, and later on the same cop speaks to Sawyer and says because he kicked the desk and broke his mug, Sawyer will get deported.
