Unless I dont remember something from last season, (Jacks father is supposedly dead) the recent update in the hospital scene, when Jack was stumbling around the hospital and asked the chief of staff if he wanted him fired, Jack said page my father and if hes not drunker than him than Jack should be fired. Is Jack's father dead? If anybody can clue me in, help.

Here's how I'm thinking about that. In tonight's episode, Hurley had a conversation with Charlie, who admitted he was dead... Somehow these "ghosts" or whatever can communicate and interact with the losties... maybe it's the same with Jack's dad. Maybe Jack sees his father but no one else does... that would explain the perterbed look on the doctor's face when Jack said that.... just a thought.

I think Jack's dad is not dead. That he is part of this whole scheme, but in what capacity I don't know. I think that when Jack went to ID/claim his dad's body it appeared that he was dead but really the paralysing spiders were used to make him appear dead. This would also explain why when Jack found his dad's coffin near the caves that the body was missing. It also explains why Jack after being in violation of 'bringing dead bodies onto airplane laws' the woman at the Oceanic counter let him bring the coffin on board-because it was empty!!!
