I have a question - why does Richard, one of the others, never appear to get older?

i wish i knew lol!
that hasnt yet been revealed but on here there are many different theories including the island time moving slower than time in the real world, this being somthing specific to the natives on the island, richard actually being dead and an apparition etc...

Yes I Have Been Wondering That Too, Ecspecially Since John Asked Ben What The Black Smoke Was....and Ben Looked 2 Really Not Know....having Said That, I Thought Richard Had Something 2 Do With Bens Mom...or A 6th Sence..able 2 See Dead People...cause Seems That An Entity Used His Mom 2 Set Up The Purge Of The Dharma People And Maybe That Entity Is Richard....because He Seemed 2 Give Ben The Order 2 Wait. Ben Aslo Said That Jacob Must Summon U To See Him, And I Wonder If Richard Has Any Connection 2 Jacob, Since Richard Had 2 Be There B4 Ben , Rite? If U Have An Idea I Would Love 2 Hear It, Cause It Seems Richard Listens 2 Ben Now, Which Makes It Hard 2 Understand? Who Really I In Control Of Whats Goin On

i think any of the original hostiles never age or age at a tremendously slow rate......Ben is not an original island inhabitant so he does not count.....we have seen this slow rate with Daniel and the beacon/payload and the difference in time on the island and off....there are soooo many theories like bunny says....

Yeah, I'm also wondering is Richard really good or bad, and if he's more superior to Ben.
Also, I'm really curious to know what's gonna happen to the others if Ben leaves the island. And the other survivors too, this is just so exciting!

In season 3 we saw Ben as a child running away from his father. He sees his mother and follows her . He then meets up with Richard in the jungle. So he had to have been living out there and also he looked the same when Ben was a child as he does now. Richard has to be an original inhabitant of the island because he had nothing to do with the Dharma Initiative. I have to go back through season 3 to see wich show for sure . Maybe someone knows without going back.

yeah...when Ben explained that he saw his dead mother.....Richard realized that Ben had a special power and wanted him to convert over ("u may have to be very patient") ...i will try to find that episode...but i remember well...i still think back to richard when he came to recruit Juliette and when she mentioned randomly that her ex husband would never let her go...but if he was hit by a bus and killed she could...obv she did not mean it but then it really happened...did Richard make it happen (or Ben) or did they change the events in that immediate past to change the future outcome so Juliette could go...omg....im babbling again..lol

One possibility that came to my mind is Richard may be some kind of physical apperation of "Jacob". This could explain why he never ages.
