Why does the Economist not know Sayid's boss?

My son said he wanted to watch Lost but that it was too confusing for a newbie. So I had to do the parenting thing and watch the Season Premiere--and first three espisodes with him last night. Poor me.

Anyhow two things stood out. But the one i want to discuss here is why didnt Ilsa's boss know who Sayid's boss was. It seems like that is what she was trying to find out--and why she didnt kill him. If her boss was Ammaden or anyone connected to Freighties or any of Dharma, wouldnt they already know who Sayid's boss was? Who doesnt know Ben? I've always thought it was Ben vs Dharma/freighties but there must be another group Ben is agains that doesnt communicate with Dharma. I need some help here!

After watching, my son said it was confusing. I said, wait till you watch more, you'll get even more confused.

i think they both know what sides each other are on but dont know who is running the entire show for the others side. i mean, its like someone might know you are working for the mafia but not know who the head honcho is (thats a crappy analogy but you know what i mean i hope!)

or perhaps elsas boss knows there is someone out there who is killing people connected to him so needs him out the picture and for sayid, maybe he doesnt know for sure who she is working for but suspects its someone and is using her to find out and confirm.

So you mean there are only two sides and they are going up the ladder to the boss? Like Sayid said to Ilsa, We all have a boss. Hmm I dont know. It seems like the Freighties were already after Ben, so for them to drop back down the ladder and try to find out Sayid's boss. i still think there must be another group here.

Yes, it's really confusing I must say! I'm just amazed that Ben is off the island at all!

i think that neither Sayid or Elsa obviously knew who eachothers bosses were and i don't think that Abaddon is NOT Elsa's boss...she mentioned that he does not like technology....could it be Jacob??? he hates technology....electricity for example....i think that there is more than 2 groups here...that would seem too simplistic for LOST..i think that there are many people after Ben and the islands powers.....Sayid is trying to move up the ladder and kill them all off
