i think the food drop triggers the lockdown!

thats why when desmond forced a lockdown (and when kelvin did) there were no food drops and this gives them longer to get the food in from somewhere.

This may be correct i think, but it still doesn't explain why no one saw or heard a plane or whatever fly over the island, right?

Yes I Agree Bunny, I Think The Food Drops Is What Setoff The Lockdown, Not The Lockdown Set Off The Food Drops. I Also Believe That Being That Theree Is More Than 1 Island Maybee There Is More Than The 2 They Have Showed.....there Is A Map Of The Island Which Shows Where Things Have Happened, But Where Ben Held Jack, Kate And Sawyer Was A Total Different Island And Had *dharma* Resaerch Facilities There Too!!! Maybee There Is Other Facilities That Are Yet 2 Be Seen On Different Islands..........maybe Juliett Wasnt Kidding When She Told Kate They Were Building An Air Strip!! And Agian I Will Say " I Dont Think Ben Knows Everything!!!" How Could He?!?!

It's not carzy Bunny. This idea was actually floated around a couple of years ago on another Lost web site I belong to. The theory was that so that no one saw how the drop got there the island was locked down.

1. Maybe Ben was faking the food drops. He locks done the hatch, so the hatchies do not see the food being placed. This way they are convinced to carry on with the mission and keep pressing the button.

2. There is a lock down to protect the inhabitants of the hatch because a certain amount of energy is released to create an opportunity in time to drop the food.

Right Patchy that was it. They had to allow the island to be visible for a short time in order for the plane or whatever to find the island and make a drop and also protect the people from the energy release.

i dont think ben controls the food drops at all, he seemed 2 not even know about desmond crashing on the island or his sailboat, again.....ben was just a workman in the dharma inititive. and until they fill in the blank from him seein his mom and then the purge we really wont know how he became so powerful, cause when him and richard pullled of his maskes in the barracks ben almost looked suprised.
