Are we allowed to post on this one, LostFreak? I'm guessing you don't consider this one of the pointless threads?? heehee

Sorry for giving you a hard time about that.
I agree about this epi being disturbing. It was good but disturbing for several reasons.
Ben's mistreatment by that bastard Roger.
Lostie against Lostie.
Sawyer not helping Sayid to begin with rather than let him go through all this tonight...
Yeah, several things...
including the icy monolog Ben gave Sayid about being a killer by nature.....that was, until we saw why he said that later in the episode.....

I thought it was the weakest episode of the season.

We already knew Ben's father was a jerk and clearly Ben's been damaged since childhood.

We already knew Sayid is a killer.

Hurley's line about bringing out the taste of the HAM was humorous - that's about it.

YAWN....:(

eww LostFreak21 if you hate the show why do you post here!!!! stop being so negative!!! ;)

seriously though I thought this was a pretty good episode. Also, a good amount about Linus, but this episode was about Sayid. Linus getting shot is just a tease for us to tune in next week. The real question is, where is Sayid going now?

And finally it looks like they will start telling us why these people came back to the Island and how they got on that plane. Of course they're going to drag it out and make it an episode for each person... :\

There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away
We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, now, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

I was a bit disturbed by what happened between Sawyer and Sayid... That bothered me. Also that Sawyer shot young Ben...that will likely have repercussions no matter what.... (not that I really like Ben, but still it seemed downright very low regardless of whatever.)

Then again Sayid centric episodes usually have a very dark theme to them….his nature like Ben said.

There were some really good lines spoken in this episode. Too bad I'm having trouble recalling them. :(

It creeps me because I never saw that coming. Here I thought Sayid was going to help him be a better person HA! What's next????

See, this is not about change, this is about creating what we already know to exist. This episode was excellent. Sawyer gave Sayid every chance he had, he even risked his own reputation to allow Sayid to escape, Sayid chose his own path. Sawyer doesn't owe Sayid, Jack, Kate, or Hurley anything, they took off on that chopper and left them all for dead, it wasn't until those peoples lives became total crap did they think to return.

Ben is a monster, but men arent born monsters they are made, the funny thing is, that this shooting will more than likely cause Ben to become firm in his resolve against the DI, this episode I believe provokes the war that culminates in the purge, however we must keep in mind that horus does not die for another twelve years, and his body is in the pit which means he died in the purge. (most likely)

This episode was great, it was a transition episode though, we knew pretty much what was going to happen going in, you cannot blame Sayid for trying to kill Ben, Ben is the worst kind of evil, he claims to not be a killer but instead hes a destroyer of souls, a twister of minds, he is far more evil than a man who takes life, for taking life is better than ruining it.

main questions for the future

Do the Surviors buck the DI and go Hostile. Knowing the dharma peoples will be wiped out, and now under suspicion of treason will the survivors seek solace with the familiar face of richard alpert and charles widmore. Widmore obviously on island due to Ben not yet of age to cast him out and since the Hostiles have yet to take over Dharma we can assume they do not leave the island often yet.

I am very happy with lost right now, after the horrid dissapointment that BSG ended with, Lost is the show, and so long as the writers can come up with something better than "god done it" we are golden.

Wouldn't it be nuts if Ben survives the shooting and that's what turns him into such a bastard? <3

that makes sense

what i think is that ben gave sayid the speech so he could kill him when he got to dharma and he probly told the family of the man sayid killed who killed him so that Llana would arrest him and take him to guam
so to sum it up ben planned it out(he knows somehow we will find that out later)
and he planned to get sayid on the plane by killing that guy whos family lived it gaum and he told him he was a killer to kill the kid him so he can go back to the 70s from 2007/2008 time after the 316 crash

any1 agree or have thoughts?

yeah, but mostly talking about the Sayid years. so how did it go? (since we're going down memory lane :))

Once upon a time, the US was deadlocked in this battle with the evil Communists...

So I think the Iranians were sick of both the Soviets and the Americans so they decided that they need to get back to fundamentalist religion via Islam. Who would've thunk these nut-jobs would establish a religious state in the 20th century?

Next the United Stupid of America (as Bill Maher says) starts backing the militaristic Iraqi regime to fight off the Iranians (since they seem unfriendly to the US). Semi-related they start feeding weapons to the Afghans. That all mostly works because the Iranians are entrenched in a 10 year deadlock with the Iraqis and the Afghans fend off the Soviets.

Somewhere in the middle of this Reagan/Bush Sr. start selling guns for hostages and money to the Iranians (now they're backing both Iraq and Iran in a war against themselves essentially perpetuating war... no wonder they hate the US) so they could finance another completely illegal war in Nicaragua (plus some cash off the top for themselves). And after it's all said and done, Saddam becomes the US's worst nightmare and Afghanistan, whom the US completely neglected once they fended off the evil Communists, has become a breeding ground for terrorists.

Now there's a time loop! Maybe it was the US's destiny to act the fool so they can perpetuate themselves in this never ending cycle of violence.

Please do correct me if I have any of my facts wrong by the way...

Well, with all this trauma to Ben as a child, that would explain his BPD as an adult :)

I for one didn't think Sayid was going to shoot Ben, I thought it was too obvious. It was like the who time travel way of thinking....to obvious? or so obvious that it's true!!! going around in circles with it. Me FAIL!

Ben obviously didn't take the opportunity to try and change that fact though, even having Sayid working for him as an adult. I wonder, is that because he hadn't "remembered" it yet or because he knows that it can't be changed.

I think Frank and Sun are in a Future that is different from the one we knew. Maybe they'll have to figure out what the Losties did wrong and try to fix that?

I hope Sayid didn't deliver a KILLER blow to Jin! I guess if he did kill him there is always a chance of that getting fixed w/all this time travel :)

Dead but Here

We see now why Ben doesn't trust anyone. His only parent was abusive. No one around him did anything about that. (In the seventies people did not interfere in a family) and when he did think he was getting away, the guy he trusted shot him.

I wish I had time to go back and watch everything again. Especially season 2 when people were being taken and everyone was talking about lists. Can you imagine how strange it would be to be in Ben's shoes? I think it would be hard not to be a bastard if you met up with the guy who shot you when you were a child, except he doesn't remember it and you have the upper hand. I like Ben even more now.

I agree totally. I thought it was a wasted episode. We saw the treamtnet ben got from his father in one of his flashbacks. Other than why was the scene with Sayid and Ben different this time than in the episode "This Plae is Death" different, it was a somewhat unexciting episode. And if ben is really dead than the writers have some explaining to do. They said the time skips were goign to be differnet in that you cant change the future just like Chang said. So either Ben really doesnt die or he does and the writers will have a good time fixing that hole
