i'm relatively new here so forgive me if this was discussed in another thread that i missed...

anyone else think it strange that both Daniel and Charlotte decline being taken away by the chopper? i mean, we all know that their background is scientific, so clearly they're interested in whatever research they're there to do on the island, but it's also clear that they arrived to conditions they weren't exactly expecting (noteably the surprise at how many people survived the crash). Naomi gets shot by Locke, they see that others are packing heat...i guess i would expect them to feel much more threatened than they really are--especially knowing that most are looking for a safe way off, and they tell them that that's not their primary objective.

i think its just their passion to explore things on that island. they havent even got started yet - why take such a big (once in a lifetime?) journey to just run at the slightest hint of danger?

Yeah, they obiously have a passion for what they do. But why are they so connected with the flight? Like Daniel Faraday started crying when he saw it on the news. I also think that Daniel may have gone back, but im pretty sure he has a thing for Charlotte. So he wanted to stay with her.

Passion For What They Do? So You Think That Each One Is There For A Different Purpose?,....miles Is The Only 1 Who Is There For Ben? I Thought There Main Objective Was 2 Get Ben?

When the team leader was talking to that head guy, ( Cant hink of names ) She was complaining that they didnt have any military experience. The guy told her that they were all chosen for a particular reason, so she would have to make it work. I think they have a few different missions. The Team mission is to get Ben. But then Im pretty sure they all have individual missions. I also have a strong feeling they dont really know everything about their objectives. Like they have been left in the dark about a lot of things. Or told incorect information... IE there are not any survivors from the Oceanic flight.

Yes, I found it quite wierd how they did'nt really care about people packing guns. I remember that Daniel did had gun of his own. That seemed expected but on the other hand you come to an island and see survivors of a plane crash have guns, you gotta say damn!!

I think they stayed to do more reasearch about the island.There was no way Charolette was leaving seeing how excited she was about finding the darhma logo on the polar bear now she was finally on the island where Darhma did the testing.
