Is it safe to assume that Ben knew that Kelvin and Desmond were pushing the button every 108 minutes for the three years that Desmond was in there? Something tells me that Ben knew the day was coming when the button would no longer be pushed. He must of known of the electromagnetic power coming from the hatch. Can someone please clear this up for me.

honestly i was thinking the same thing, ben seemed really thrown off at desmond and his sail boat! and he seemed shocked when it imploded...i have always said there is things that ben doesnt know about the dharma inititive or the islands powers or the black smoke! ben when he killed his father was just a loser "work-man" also so how could he have had alll the info ?

Well I actually JUST watched the episode where Ben is taken captive by the Losties and Ben is the one if you remember that gets locke to stop pushing the button. When Locke is stuck under the door he tells Ben to push it (which he obviously does) but he later tells Locke that he didn't push it and that nothing happened. So thats why Locke assumes its all a scam....hmm?

Yeah, i am pretty sure Ben knows 99.999% of EVERYTHING about Dharma!

He knew about the button, and the "experiments" and everything. He knew it wouldn't matter "too much" if the button didn't get pushed. He knew SOMETHING would happen, and that SOMETHING wouldn't really matter that much..... plus he knew Locke and his significance....

but most of that is just me thinking through typing!

I'm pretty sure he didn't know.. He didn't know about that station or the one that spied on that station (forget the names right now).. I read that somewhere.. maybe lostpedia? I can't remember.

Ok, yeah, this is from lostpedia:

"In the March 20, 2007 Official Lost Podcast, Carlton Cuse confirmed that The Others had no knowledge of the Swan station. Hence, Radzinsky, Kelvin Joe Inman, and/or Desmond were not killed during the Purge in which the Others killed off all the DHARMA Initiative workers."
