What if Ben's secret passport room is a time machine of sorts? That would explain all the passports, all his knowledge (maybe HE is the man on the boat!), and why he told Michael and Walt what coordinates to use to leave the island.
That would explain the look of shock on Faraday's face when he saw the time difference in his experiment. Just a thought.

i don't think it would make sense for him to use his storeroom of travelling swag as a time machine because then all that stuff would come with him every time.... i think the sub, the yacht, and possibly some other unseen vehicles are how he really gets around... also, remember when kate and sawyer are breaking rocks they are told that they are working on a runway so perhaps ben was buying/building a plane that could travel back and forth

The time travel/difference between island time and time in the outside world explains all the passports money,etc.

If time in the outside world is far slower/behind then Ben can leave on a trip and come back so quickly that his people wouldn't ask questions.
He could leave for a half hour and spend a couple weeks vacationing.

It would also explain his cancer. No one on the island gets cancer. What if you are constantly off the island? Worse yet...constantly time traveling. I'm no scientist, but I'm guessing time travel isn't exactly great for your body.

i doubt it as they are looking for benajmin linus - if he was on the boat - mission over LOL!

Actually what if they capture and take Ben to the frieghter, so he learns all about them. He then escapes and travels back in time. So he knows them and the events to come. It explains why he knows their mission and their backgrounds.
