So with the episode from two weeks ago, that vaguely described each of the "rescuers" and their involvement in the team sent to the Island we kind of got a glimpse of what they might be trying to do.

I was a little confused as to why they would need a ghost buster until it very obviously dawned on me that, duh! There is a sort of 'ghost' on the island. No one is sure what Jacob really is but it looks like he's probably some sort of poltergeist.

It's my theory that he's there to get rid of Jacob, or at least determine why he's there or make contact with him. I thought it was really interesting that the very imposing black man that charges Naomi on guarding the team sent to the island had the last name of "Abaddon", which in hebrew means "destruction" and in Revelations 9:11 is the "Angel of the Abyss".

On one of links to the general forum there was a shadowy pic of Jacob and he was dressed in a bucaneers outfit. It seemed to go with the Black Rock ship. The speculation is that Jacob is an entity stranded on the island for well over 100 years, Being on the island the longest (?) may elevate a person to some advanced level of psychic power. It could also warp them ,being deprived of human interaction and completely removed from what they knew of life as they lived it. It would be like living beyond all of your relatives, loved ones and common life experiences. Tough, but do-able. Ben may be the only person willing to brave the effects of relating to Jacob and his obvious powers. Locke and now Hurley seem to be drawn into Jacob's circle, too. That does seem threatening to Ben, doesn't it?

you may be right - there are a few theories which do suggest jacob is trapped and able to manifest himself as smokie and as the dead.

Why do I see Jacob wearing white t-shoes in the rocking chair, is he getting ready for a run on the Beach? I do not think these were around back in the pirate days.

This is a little random, but I just thought of it...On the season 3 box set, there is a small saying of "Jacob Loves You." Has anyone mentioned their theories on what that may represent? As far as I can tell, the words Jacob and love have never been used together in the show....curious.

In the orchid video there is a split second screenshot that says "God loved you as he loved Jacob"...and i think there might be a couple other mentions...possible the Whispers

I don't really know, but I have hear rumers that Miles Straum might have a hidden meaning. Like how "Ethan Rom" changes to "Other Man" if you mix the letters around. I haven't found much yet but alot of nonsence stuff like Mule Is Smart. but I'm still looking

also on the Dharma brainwashing tape (can watch on youtube again:put in lost brainwashing room 23....many choices...watch the longer version)...there is a clip of pix showing how we are destroying our world with wars....pollution...etc....and there is a clip saying "god loves u as he loves jacob".....they were using this on carl and maybe trying it on walt (maybe they used on cindy and the kids too cuz they really changed and fit right in with the others later on)....i agree with the ideas of miles purpose on the island......and jacob wasn't wearing sneakers in the rocker...it was Christian Sheppard (unless jacob transformed into his body)....i still think that it could have been jacobs eye in the window and def christian in the rocker with the same white sneakers we have seen him in before

Perhaps Jacob has the ability to manifest images of those who have perished on the Island (or whose body was on the island). Evidenced by Christian Sheppard & Charlie.

Well, it's not an anagram but it came up in another thread that is sounds like maelstrom. And then to top it off, the Lost writers confirmed it and made that connection with their pop up on the rerun.

there was a debate yesterday about the religious nature of lost and if the producers would use the angle.
