For the previews for 2maros epsiode they say that everyone one on the island has been waiting for this moment for a long time, and it is centered on Ben and we know the smoke monster. What i get from that is he is going to either die or come near death my way of smokie.
Thoughts?

Ben will be put throught the trials of judgement but will not die. He will have to prove his worthiness and atone for whatever his sins are. I think that he will be judged in a court like setting just as Juliet was and if found guilty he will be sent to the jungle to wait for smokie as his punishment. That does not necessarily mean death. It better not.

Look, I just figured it out and it absolutely cannot be Ben as the major death this season. TPTB have said that it is a well loved character and it was so shocking because of this!!!!! Well, you know, only a certain select few of us understand and appreciate the real BEN!!!!! He will only be judged and face smokie for his punishment...

I like Ben just as much as others but this is smokie we r talking about. It is extremly dangerous and unpredictale. Does it have enough control to give a "light" punishment? idk, but i hope so

If Ben were the perfect man, I don't think he would have sin at all and he would die for everybody's sins if he is to die.
Ben has lied countless times and has ordered to kill people, which is an accessory to murder.
I have many ideas of who he could be judged by, but I just don't see him getting smudged out just yet. I suppose if Ben was a minority, he might be taken out or at least forgotten for a while (i.e. Sayid, Jin, Sun, Michael, Mr. Ecko, Anna-Lucia, Rose).
There should be an episode that has Hurley and Miles talk about time travel, I think they were on to something there.
Don't believe the previews, they lie!

American previews lie, previews from other countries tell the truth.
I honestly don't know about or care for previews. It's like the cover on a book; does it tell most of the story and is dead-on accurate?

Yeah, I'm just starting on Island now Mike. It's hard to get into, but already some interesting parallels. I've read the third policeman too - does that fit into the mirror world hypothesis in LOST?

If the island or smokie is going to be the judge, how do we know the set of rules to be judged by conform to generally accepted norms. For all we know the set of rules that Ben is judged by might be considered nefarious or demoniac by our standards. Maybe he did something heroic or generous by generally accepted standards but was outside of the islands rules.

maybe the moment we all been waiting for is to find out what smokie is or who/what jacob is or that jacob is smokie

The only thing that we know (as far as I can remember) that was against teh rules was Widemore killing Ben's daughter (even though Keemy did it, and it wasn't his true daughter).
We know that Ben swore he would get his revenge and kill Widemore's daughter, (Penny). So I'm guessing that he killed Penny and has to be judged for it because he broke the rules.

just to throw this into the melting pot........
ben will judged for his sin of leaving the island, we know that locke was suppose to turn the wheel and not ben! what if he was never suppose to leave the island? what if ben has broken that rule, because of his hatred for widmore and felt he had to kill penny (not that we know if he did or not)?
to even the score?
other than ben leaving when he turned the wheel the only other people i can recall being off the island were richard and tom??
and tom died shortly after, and richard is obviously an exception to the rule.

Ben returned to the island, which is his Sin. He was not supposed to be able to come back, and by coming back, he turned into an evil, evil man. EVIL I say!!!

first, Ben being judged happens in 1977. None of the stuff that you all are talking about has happened yet....

I agree with Notso, Ben will be judged by Smokie but won't die. If he has the power to call up Smokie (which he did when they had to leave Newotherton after his daughter got killed) then he knows what he's up against. Plus Ben would never do something where he didn't already know the outcome.

AGAIN, this is young Ben we are talking about, he's never been to the future, in only 1977 for him, so how can some of you, say things about the future Ben and think it's revalet in 1977.....

What if the beloved Smokie dies?
Nope can't.
Who else...how can anyone die if they are still in the future? Unless what happened didn't happen. I would be sad if Miles died because he is so funny. I would be sad if Sawyer died because he has become a good character and seems to have gotten really cute. I would be sad if Juliet died because I like her with Sawyer. I guess I don't want anyone to die. Waaaaaaaa

ben is not in 1977 he is in 2007 with the rest of the 316ers
i really do think that his sin was leaving, he will be blamed for the events that happened after he left!

When they said its a well-loved character they could very well have been sarcastic.

well sorta b/c the promo for 5X3-jughead included "this place is death!" and "its not stopping!" from the episode this place is death so some do but they've done it less often since as this season progressed

All I know is if smokie does punish Ben he better unleash both barrels on him.
I've never seen anyone in a TV show take as much day in/day out abuse and keep on truckin like ol' Benny boy. The guy's not human.

There, that should cover it. I unfortunatly know that Ben will live through this episode. How do I know this? Last night I was playing around with my DVR, just making sure that Lost would tape tonight since I have plans after work and might not be home in time to watch it when it starts. So I get to the screen of "Scheduled to Record" and scroll through it. Tonight's Lost is on there, with a short description of the show. And next week's was on there as well, and it mentioned Ben in the short description. I forget exactly what it said, but his name was in there for the 4/15 episode.

It's been in commercials and shown after last week's episode that present day Ben is going to be judged, Ben says this himself.
The spoiler alert above this post was not too informative.
Maybe Albert Rupert is still around in present day to decide what to do with Ben, Al seemed to decide what to do with Ben back in 1977 (despite Charles and Lilly, whoever the heck they are . . . Charles Widmore perhaps).

he didnt say lilly he said ellie! who we can only assume is the same ellie from the 1954 and the same ellie who is Eloise Hawking in 2007 and charles was there in the 50's too and we know he was a leader as he told locke in the begining of the life and death of jeremy benthem.

This is the only breach of rules pointed out true, but we were also told that those who leave cannot return, and Ben has returned. Perhaps this fits into the aforementioned rules?
