Not sure if this has been asked yet but.....what was up with flushing the nasty water down the hole when Ben summoned it? Any ideas?

im thinking that clearing the water might signal smokie somehow, perhaps clearing the water allows smokie to come through the hole???

That's what I thought, water might be a natural barrier for smokie. The hole is a back door to get him inside the fence?

But he never came through the hole when Ben summoned it against Keamy and his men. It came from outside. Perhaps when he drained the water it allowed the smoke monster to hear him but when the water was blocking the drain it would muffle his voice. But now we know why Ben wa sso dirty last time

Did it occur to anyone that perhaps Smoky did not show up the second time Ben emptied the drain because Ben had left and come back? Smoky may have been like "Hey, buddy, you freakin left, and weren't supposed to come back. I ain't listenin to your drain requests"

I don't think Ben summoned the Smokey like he did when Keamy was attacking. I think the room is a connection to the Temple somehow, but the 1st time Ben summoned Smokey, he disturbed something very important in that room. Like a pizzed off guard dog, Smokie came roaring in with bad intentions. Ben knows better than to do that to himself. He just did some meaningless task to make Locke think he did what he was supposed to.

I'm thinking Ben left the island and is no longer the leader of the Others so Smokie won't be coming to Ben, Ben will have to go to Smokie as Locke figured out.

I think we'll see that room again before the season ends and get more info on it. No telling what Ben really did when he went in there.

Granted Locke probably doesn't realize that Bens gonna get killed if Ben doesnt do what he says, but its gotta piss Ben off being so, well, powerless.
