I was just thinking.. this is an amazing show, that probably appeals to people of all different ages, all different walks of life. I'm a 19 year old kid who works a part time job at Staples (the Office Supply Super Store =D) and enjoys smoking.. well, you can probably guess what I smoke. And more importantly, I love to theorize about what the **** is going on. So how old is everyone else? What do you do? What draws you to this show? And to the bizarre ideas that surround it?

I'm 17. Will be 18 in about 7-8 months. I have a job washing dishes at pizza hut, which seems alright. Gives me something to do on the weekends anyway.Other than that I spend much of my time thinking up stories or playing games(and have been trying to make one as of late as well).

Not sure what really drew me into the show in the first place. When I'd first seen it, I'd thought it might be some lifetime movie, because at that time those are really all my mother watched and I just happened to walk in on her while watching it. Figured Locke might actually be some kind of villian, considering he was enjoying the rain while Jack, Kate, and Charlie were being chased by the monster. :p

I suppose I found out that the show itself was special when we'd learned that Locke used to be a cripple at the end of 'Walkabout'. You just can't find anything else like it on tv, and though I usually like books more than television shows, this show somehow is able to use the same kind of storytelling.

I'm a 33 year old artist and musician who does (and has done) various types of IT work to pay the bills. The first episode I saw was the one where Jack, Kate, and Sawyer are being forced to work for the Others, while Sayid, Jin, and Sun are out on the sailboat. Knowing nothing about the show, I was bewildered, but intrigued. Figuring I'd never catch up, I didn't watch the show again until just before the 4th season, when I found out all the episodes were available online. I watched the first three seasons in about 2 months. I've been hooked ever since.

I think Lost is unique in the way it combines science fiction, the supernatural, mythological and religious symbolism, human drama, mysterious conspiracies, and "wilderness adventure" stories. I love the fact that so many characters are named after famous philosophers. I like the mind-bending quality that time travel adds to the story. The mood, especially during the first 3 seasons, kind of reminded me of the old computer game Myst, which I really liked back in the day. Smokie, the ageless Richard Alpert, the Egyptian elements, the Black Rock- these are just a few of the eclectic assortment of mysteries that adds such depth to the story.

I dated Richard's mom in high school. If I tell you any more I'll have you all killed by my 'pet'. I really don't like all the attention my friends are getting, especially this season. I can't wait for the show to be over!

I'm sixteen, and I just remember walking downstairs to get a drink, and watching the scene where they're wondering what to do about food, and locke throws a knife, and it stabs into the seat about two inches away from sawyers head, then he says "We hunt". haha, and I said "Oh! Is this that new show LOST!? This looked really good!" and I haven't missed an episode since. :]

I'm a 60 year-old Social Worker with the State of Michigan. I graduated from Michigan State with a Psychology major and minors in Chemistry and Chinese History. Don't ask me why I became a Social Worker; it's a Lost backstory.

I started watching Lost because it was well promoted and kept watching because the writing, the mystery, the characters and their backstories were compelling. I almost stopped watching when it appeared the story was going nowhere like a soap opera that has to break up the main couple so they can bring them back together - over and over. I was riveted when it became clear that the story would come to an end with a full story arc - as opposed to the 'suddenly everyone was run over by a truck' ending that Life on Mars had. Lost began to eat my life - I know that line is not original, but it is such good a line and so accurate that I had to use it - when I realized that the science in Lost was at least somewhat based on real theoretical Physics and the historical and mythological references were so rich in their implications that - well ... I may have to retire because work is getting in the way of Lost.

I should also say that as a graduate of Michigan State in East Lansing I know for a fact that Ann Arbor - the home of the University of Michigan - is the center of Evil in the universe. Death to Dharma.

Why do I like Lost, well, Its the most compelling program in TV history. I would consider myself a bit of a snob when it come's to TV, which, in general is a insult to the intellect ( all the 'come dancing on ice while singing in the ballroom, idol shows ( opium of the stupid )). Its different to all the boring, made to the demographic, crime/forensic and STUPID soap shows. It dares to be different and succeeds on so many levels. I don't really have to say here because you all know just how good it is, but, its just the best written and acted ( Mr Emerson ) show on TV ever.

Buy the way, I'm sitting in a Amsterdam smoke house right now, pass the bong brother.

Now look I've just lost another grand! best get back to it before the markets close, you bad, bad people!

I'm 28 and I work as a 911 dispatcher in Chelsea, MA. I'm also married and have a 5 yr old daughter.

I happened to be flipping channels and caught a glimpse of the plane crashed on the beach in the pilot episode so I stopped to watch. Honestly I had no idea what the show even was at first but I never missed an episode after that first one. I pretty much like anything that requires a bit of thinking so of course I was hooked on this show pretty quickly.

I'm 37 and a stay at home mum. Also a chartered surveyor. I watched the first episode on TV in the UK and nearly didn't watch any more because the acting was so bad. However, as you can gather I did stick with it only to find it was scrapped on UK TV after the first series! By this point I was addicted and have watched all of the following series on dvd (Sky TV is generally too rubbish for me to want to subscribe).

Okay, want to see something really cool? In season 2, when Eko and the smoke monster are face to face, you have to watch that scene in stop action, frame by frame. There are eleven different pictures from Eko's past embedded inside of the smoke monster. You can only see them if you go frame by frame though. I swear it's true! Check it out!

I was at Woodstock when I was 18...can you guess?
I was living in New Orleans when LOST started and watched it on and off the first couple seasons. Then Katrina kicked my butt outa there and I am now in Raleigh NC. I am much more into LOST the last few seasons. I work for a mortgage company (which I do NOT enjoy) I used to own a travel agency. I volunteer with pug rescue. I foster abandoned pugs. I should also say that as a graduate of Michigan State in East Lansing I know for a fact that Ann Arbor - the home of the University of Michigan - is the center of Evil in the universe. Death to Dharma.

I'm 57 and work for the Post Office. ( Please no jokes about snail mail). I watched the first 3 or 4 episodes with my wife, who loves it, but then skipped a couple, why I can't remember, but after seeing a couple more, I rushed out and bought Season One on DVD and have been hooked ever since.

I totally agree with Your description of U of M. I have one daughter that graduated from MSU, and I attended a local High School that used the MSU fight song.

Go State!!!!!!!!!!!:D:D:D

ok - back to the original thought (which I think is a good one)...
See the two I adopted? Love to you all!

So I'm younger than somebody, YAY!

Wow, what a nice thread this has turned out to be! And looks like Ben has at least two of us ready to take very good care of him!

I am a staff therapist in physical rehabilitation and also contract in critical care and neuro, primarily with spinal cord injuries and head trauma. Unbelievably rewarding.
That's wonderful to have a profession that is rewarding to the soul - I knew you were special.:)

I'm 37 in Earth years, but I've now started calculating my age in Mars years. So I'm really 19. And a half.

I don't like to be pigeon-holed, I have done number a things in my working life. High-school dropout Clerk; Technician; qualified scientist in cognitive science and psychology; and currently just "working" by being on call to place bids in to the energy market for a power generating company, while working on an individual project and becoming obsessed with LOST. I missed the first season but saw the recap before the 2nd started, loved it, and went and hired the DVDs so I was up to date. Now here I am.

I did it once on accident. I totally was not in the mood or interested in this girl, i was having a bad day and i was out drinking and didn't feel like company. I kept telling the girl (politely) that i wanted to be alone. Well she kept coming back like i was playing some stupid game, i sincerely didn't wanna talk or anything, no game. Well, it worked.

Listen boys, a woman needs to be put on a pedestal and treated like a goddess. She should be worshiped. When the woman is happy, the man is always smiling...know what I mean? The respect works both ways. I don't know any women that like to be treated like dirt. That's got to be a learned behaviour from the environment they grew up in and I would also venture to guess that they are young girls, not women. There's a big difference. Okay boys, carry on...:)

That's not what I am saying at all. I am saying that woman need to be respected and treated with respect. A happy woman means a happy man is nearby. Believe me, I have fought for equal rights, equal pay, and all other women's rights most of my life. Besides, women are always right and the sooner a man understands that, the better!. :D

Which is basically what you said except it's more like, 'your comments are greatly appreciated now go f*ck yourself too.'

I received two emails. The second was slightly longer rubbish but said the same thing as the first which was more concise:

Bax, those are probably just generated automatically. They really do read your email and take note. I had a problem with a DVD set I ordered from them. I emailed and got basically the same kind of email back. But then a few days or so later I got a real one telling me what to do. They took care of it right away. Did you try to find Firefox like I said?

As I said notsolost42, I was already using Firefox. It's not my browser that's the problem and this time around I suspect I will not receive much useful feedback from them. They have already decided ahead of time to ignore my operating system since it does not command enough of a market share and there is no huge corporate conglomeration pushing them to support it.

Well Bax, needless to say I'm not very computer savy, but what kind of OS do you use? My daughter is real good at this stuff and I can ask her if you like.

I'm very upset about this and I am not going to stop bitching about it for some time. I sent feedback to abc with my only commentary being F*CK YOU. I feel this best expresses my feelings on the subject. thank you.

I think you handled it very well.

I am curious to see if abc provides any feedback, but since you asked I am using Ubuntu. It's free and I wish more people would use it. I suspect they would if it came pre-installed on people's computers when they bought it the way PCs and Macs do. Here are some links in case anyone cares:

Since this conversation has veered way off topic I'll bring it back home by saying I'm 29 and I am batman (although I'm off today)...

I'm a 46 year old female, married 27 years with 2 grown sons the eldest is currently on his second tour in Iraq...I try not to worry, but...my youngest is living and working in Illinois with his new fiance. I work at a casino as a Public Area Attendant (fancy way of saying I clean up after people!). Been watching LOST from the beginning thinking I was watching a movie. When it ended and said "Next week on LOST..." I thought "How the hell are they gonna make a series out of a plane crash?" so had to keep watching. I'm so hooked that when each season ends, I pre-order it on DVD and when it arrives, I'm "on the island" for 2 straight days. Love the show and love the forum...you guys have some great theories.

I'm 26, Originally from London but now live in Charlie pace's Manchester.
I'm in Sales and have a nice cosy apartment in the city centre. I'm also a musician and actor, doing various shows and gigs and modelling for tv.im big into my weight training at the gym and love my football (Soccer for you american peeps).
Love lost cos there is no show like it that makes you think so deep into it and discuss theories all day. Plus it has characters you care about and amazing plot twists. Without doubt the best tv show i have ever seen.

I think it's pretty amazing that we are such a diverse group - wide age range, from very different places, different education levels, jobs (students) and we all just exchange ideas and thoughts so easily. If we were all in a room together, we would be more aware of the differences, and maybe not exchange thoughts so freely. I think this is a really cool thing! Blessings and peace to you all!
