Jack was lying like he lied about a few things.They did crash in the south pacific.This is a flash forward and he said they landed in the water....maybe a deal they made with oceanic.....to cover up the ...cover up?I bet so...

The secret isn't that they crashed on the island, but instead what is on the island itself and what happened to them while they were there. Clearly they are covering up the fact that many more than 8 people survived, as Jack testified on the stand.

He said they crashed and only 8 people survived. Not true. She agreed that they could not save 2 (hence the Oceanic 6)

Which means - what happened to everyone else?

hes covering something up, much like they have in the past, like when jack asked hurley "if he told anyone" and hurley says "no, have you?" or somehting like that

They were'nt really thier to rescue them anyway. Maybe they leave them there and are rescued by someone else.

Maybe Jack is covering because to protect the other losties still on the island. So how I think that bug eyed black guy naomi talked to earlier has something to do with jacks cover up.

I think it all comes down to how powerful Ben is and it is obvious how powerful his enemies are, so Jack knows they will stop at nothing to do what they have to to get Ben, that may be killing all that knew of him, and they knew arrivals have only seen a few of the losties.
