Miles was never a physicist.....Daniel Farraday is the physicist. We've always known that Miles was some kind of psychic/ghost whisperer sort of guy. Although it seems something happened with Dan in that he somehow lost his memory? Charlotte was testing him with the cards and told him he got 2 out of 3 which was progress.

Correct, and I'm asking for clarification of this statement. What indication do we have that Dan is not a physicist? What indication do we have that he is a psychic? I'm not sure what you're trying to say...

What about the card guessing makes you think he's a psychic? It seemed to me that they were simply testing his memory. Even if they were trying to develop his ability to determine what cards were there without even looking at them, I think that would say more about them trying to understand the powers of the island than about Dan himself.

Sorry I'm not trying to sound like I'm dismissing your point, but I think it would be a little off-topic and confusing for them to reveal Dan as having psychic tendencies also after already revealing Miles to be "in touch" so to say. Again, I think perhaps they're discovering something about the powers of the island? Charlotte and Dan do seem to be the most in-tune with the mission of the new visitors to the island and the two who are most eager to unlock its mysteries.
