Hi all
I wonder if this has been discussed if so apology!!!
What i would llike to know is that when lock went to the future to get jack and co back to the island he skipped three years (so conveniently)
Right so we know tht sawyer and co during the three years of when jack and co came back to island co existing in being 3 years as jack and co being ff the island.......
meaning that when jack and co left three years past, as did sawyer and co had 3 years gone as well
So what i want to know is what did Lock do in this three year period???
Did he just miss out 3 years of his life??

From his own persepective he didn't miss any time. He just wasn't around anywhere during those three years. His age when he arrived in Tunisia was the same as when he left the island. If his birth certificate could auto correct based on his physical age, it would have him being born three years later than his original certificate.

It also wasn't 'convenient' - the very reason these events happened three years after the Oceanic 6 left the island is BECAUSE Locke skipped to that time period, by chance. If he'd skipped five years, then the Jack and the rest would have spent five years off-island instead, before returning to 1977.

Maybe. However long they O6 were off island, would they have still returned to 1977, or would they match up with the left behind people. IF they were off island 5 years or 7 years maybe they would have returmed to 1979 or 1981. To keep their ages the same, the times would have to match as well.

That's a good question. I suppose he as well as Ben could have simply teleported to Tunisia and, while to them it would be instant, the rest of the world would think that they don't exist for a period of time. It seems it's the same with Sawyer and co. when the flashes were happening, except they travelled to the past as well as to the future.
But this reminds me of a video game with time travel that is a bit simpler, known as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. In it, when the main character tries to pull the Master Sword from the Pedestal of Time, he is frozen within the Temple of Light for seven years because he is too young to wield the sword. Once he has awakened, he has the option to put the Master Sword back in it's place to rewind time seven years, to before he attempted to pull it.
Of course, the creators of the game have stated that in the LoZ series, there are two timelines due to this, but some fans and theorists such as myself believe that there is only one timeline, and that the hero chose to rewrite the future by staying in the past.
Then of course there's the sequel to that game, Majora's Mask, but it seems the only time travel that game has has to do with going back in time three days, teleporting, and confusing stuff like having items you've obtained three days ahead of when you have them, which seems impossible...though I guess that makes more sense now that we've seen things the Losties come in contact with travel with them through time. But if that were the case, there would be the original items and then the items Link has existing at the same time, which is not true.
And then he ends up changing the outcome of the game, which means WHH wouldn't be true in that particular universe...
Another game in the same series, the Oracle of Ages, has a similar item to the Ocarina of Time(of which was used in both previous games, but actually allowed time travel in Majora's Mask) known as the Harp of Ages. Playing it causes portals around the land of Lybranna to open up, which send you back and forth 400 years, and later on in the game you obtain the ability to time travel by creating your own portals.
It gets a bit confusing when the villian of the game, Veran, comes to posess the Oracle of Ages, Nayru, in order to go back in time and change what has happened and what will happen. Rather than creating paradox or creating new timelines, some things like animals or people turn to stone or die, and others simply change; there's one particular village that, when you first see it, is destroyed by a nearby valcano and is deserted, but after going to the past and defeating the demon inside the valcano, you can go back to the present and see that everything is fine and dandy and peaceful.
But now I'll stop my ranting.
