Ben's statement to Jack

At the end of season 3 when Jack first makes radio contact with the ship, Ben tells Jack not to make the call. "If you make that call every "living" person on this island will be killed." Is that what has come into play in the flash forwards?

Plus why would Hurkey and Jack want to get back so bad if they were all dead?

so do you think some may be dead but just dont know it? and walking around in that same way some dead people tend to on the island?
