Tom Friendly and the Purple Sky

Anyone remember way back when Tom Friendly told Jack about the day when the sky turned purple? I think they were talking during Ben's surgery. Anyway, do you think that Tom was refering to the incident that Daniel was going to cause or stop? Or was it when Des failed to push the button?

I believe Tom was referring to the day Desmond and Locke didnt push the button--Desmond turned failsafe key and the (Swan) Hatch imploded....causing the sky to turn purple

I would imagine the failsafe. Toms words were 'two days ago when the sky turned purple....'. This was said around the time Jack was operating on Ben during season 3
