Why do you suppose Eloise apologized to Penny and claimed that it was Dan's fault that Desmond was shot by Ben? What did Dan have to do with it?

I guess if Dan had never went to the hatch and told Desmond to go find his mother then they wouldn't have been there for Ben to shoot him.

I agree but (1) either Ellie was being nosey and wanted to learn if Des was ok because she will need him later, or (2) she's Penny's mom and felt the need to apologize to her. I like (1). I don't think Ellie feels the need to apologize to anyone.

I don't think she's Penny's mom. I think the affair that Chuckie had off island produced Penny.

Well, I definitely don't think she was there out of genuine concern for Desmond.

Similar to Ben's dad, Dan's mom has some kind of pathology, finding fault with child...
She's crazy.

Maybe its because Daniel's efforts really did change something and Desmond being shot was a side-effect. I'm not to sure if that can really hold up but it kinda makes sense...

I agree that it was probably due to Dan sending Des. It has to be either that or that Dan didn't do something that Eloise expected him to do but I was cusious what the consensus was. I found that scene with Eloise at the hospital very intriguing regardless. I'm wondering if sending Desmond to see her wasn't the first example of straying from the predicted course of events? Eloise mentioned that for the first time in a long time, she didn't know what was going to happen so something has to have altered from the course she was expecting.

no doubt that Eloise Hawking is whack job. As I said in another post, the less I hear her speak the better.
And all those scenes with Desmond and Penny were a total waste of time. Desmond went back to L.A. for absolutely nothing. "Consider the message deliverd." Yeah, Thanks. Where ever would we be without you Desmond? Then he got shot but he lived... It would have been the exact same thing if he had just stayed home and not bothered us in the first place. These are the kind of things that make me distrust the writers. They brought him back just to jerk us around for a few episodes by making us think Ben killed Penny and probably because they wanted to give a popular character some air time.
Well you know who else are popular characters? John Locke and Benjamin Linus. How about you stop wasting my time and tell me what the hell they're doing in 2007 now? Or what about Richard Alpert? How about you tell us what's his problem? Why doesn't he age? what about the temple? etc. Or how about the smoke monster? Tell me more about that... It is completely not necessary to waste my time with this crap since theirs a million other things you could be telling me...
grr...

I'm guessing the writers, Desmond and Eloise are FULL OF IT?:)
I would just encourage you to hang in there with the fact that Desmond went to see Eloise, TP. I think it may prove to be pivotal.

grr...It's like the news, where they tell you ten times what they're going to tell you, before they finally tell you. If you want to know, you have to sit through a bunch of crap.
I certainly agree that many fragments of the story are uninteresting, but yeah, have faith they know what they're doing. It's going to be a HUGE disaster in the end, if they don't.
