I know we are all into the WHH v TCC discussion. but, to use an old line, i am getting a nose bleed from that. So, decided to post a new thread about the things I have noticed watching reruns. gotta love G4 and SciFi channels.
1) let us not forget that when 815 crashed they were 1000 miles off course. thats before des forgot to push the button. they plane had to be in the vicinity to be taken down by the anomaly in the electromagnetic filed. so, how did it get there and why?
2) during the series of episodes when Sawyer, kate, and jack were kidnapped and held on hydra, specifically - "not in Portland"- when jack was doing the surgery on ben, he asked mr. friendly if they can get off the island why the production of forcing him to do the surgery. Friendly said, "ever since the sky turned purple, we..." and then he was interrupted by kate on the walkie. hmmmm.
3) during those same episodes, that douche Danny, who had a boner for killing sawyer, said "shepard wasn't even on jacob's list." and, don't forget they were gonna let him go before locke blew up the sub. hmmmmm. maybe jack is not as important as we have been led to believe. but, how does that make sense with christian ...being who and where he is?
4) in the episode where Mr. Eko died, sayid asked locke how eko died. locke said, and i quote "the people on the beach call it a monster, but i do not have a name for it." sound familiar? exactly what ben said to locke in dead is dead. weird. meaning?
discuss.

My thoughts...
1) The Island could have just 'pulled' the plane off course. It knew a Ben was sick, Desmond was going to miss pushing the button... so it 'made' the plane be where it needed to be to crash.
2) I think when the sky turned purple it messed up communications.. so they couldn't coordinate with anyone off the Island. I forget if the sub was at the Island (or if Locke had blown it up at that point?) They could also be concerned that the coordinates to follow to get off the Island were now different.. and didn't want to risk a trip given Ben's condition.
I'm also quite curious just where the sub goes. It's not exactly the most normal of vessels to take into a port....
3) I don't understand the list.... What ever happened to the kids? I also recall the one episode with Losties hiding in the jungle and all the kid-like feet went by... and barefoot and dirty... and one dragging a teddybear. What's up with that!?
4) To Locke, the Island is a spiritual place he really feels he belongs -- after all, the Island did enable him to walk again and live out a fantasy of hunting and such. Locke's not so sure it's a monster... he could be thinking it's a guardian of some sort -- it's clearly a manifestation of the Island and so he's not going to label it a monster.

I think the list is essentially relates to who becomes very important to the island. Those that travel back in time to the Dharma's era and those that will become future leaders.
Ben and Locke were both children when they were contacted by Richard Alpert. He's already said the process of finding the leader has to start at a very young age. Elloise and Charles are only 17 when they're running around with guns...
I hope there is a flash to the future when Walt and/or Arron is the leader...

How exactly would Jacob make a list? The dude doesn't even have a real body. I'm guessing any "jacob" list came from the hands of someone else -- Ben or Richard or whoever was leading the Others at the time. We've seen them use Jacob as an excuse before.

most recently, that was my theory too. but danny saying that shepard is not the list implies that the list is someone's, and then ben added jack to have his surgery, and that whomever wrote the list had no intentional of taking jack.
one of my other "theories" is that prior to negitating and end date for lost, TPTB were writing entire story lines to be red herrings/dead ends. so, looking back through episodes its hard to tell what is truly relevant and what was/is a red herring. as i watch these season 3 reruns, it struck me that the biggest clues (for the most part) are very very quiet and subtle. at that point, they had no idea how long the show would need to run.
and, yes, i saw the dirty feeted others with the teddy bear, and the tailies getting kidnapped and cindy the stewardess disappear into thin air. and they, too, were on a list. hmmmm
next week on G4 are the all time "best" - expose and stranger in a stranger land. losts all time low points. i bet i still like the epis.

Yeah, and the producers have also said they aren't trying to trick people. So more often than not, what has been said IS true, what changes is the meaning or context behind the words. So I guess I'd have to say the list is from Jacob, in some way.

1) sounds good to me
2)Locke blew up the Sub after ben's surguy, ben was at his home bed in a sling when Locke blew it up.
--I'm also curious about the Sub, why must a person be knocked out to get on a Sub? Theres no windows in a Sub and even if there was You would still have No idea the bearing or direction you would be traveling?
3) werent the kids and the 815 flight attendent shown in the episode that Locke was suppose to kill his father? The kids still with the Others?
4) sounds good to me

You don't have to be knocked on the sub. As Richard told Juliette, the trip can be very disorienting for some people and so being knocked out is recommended. I don't think Ethan was knocked out when he traveled that way.

Original "Others" are not knocked out, but new comers to the island are.
Juliette, and all the new recruits of the D.I were all knocked out before
entering the Sub. Ethan wasn't knocked out-he's an Other.
I think there are other ways the "Others" get off the island besides the sub and wheel

Just for clarificaton. Desmond didnt forget to push the button. He was out watching kelvin because he noticed the bio suit was torn and he ended up getting in a fight with him and killing Kelvin. He ran back knowing it was going to be close to the time to push it. Just so happens it was past the 108 minutes
