We really haven't seen Ben do too much lately. Has it gotten to the point where things on the island are beyond his scope and control? He admitted to Sun that he didn't know that John was going to come back to life, and his reckoning with the smoke monster seemed to put him in line behind Locke.

Does anyone think Ben is out of the picture as a major player?

Somehow I think he still has something up his sleeve. I don't know if this has been discussed before, but did Ben have the runway build on Hydra island back in season 3 knowing that flight 316 was going to need it?

Next episode we are going to see Ben and Richard follow Locke as the leader, so yes his tone will be less heard for now.
But there is no doubt he, and Richard knows a lot more about things than Locke.

Just to clarify:
"Ben's tone will be less heard now" ??
"Ben knows a lot more things than Locke" ??
Is that correct in what you said?
Why will ben follow Locke next episode if he knows more?
Why Did ben follow Locke to Smokie, when ben doesnt know where to find
it but Locke does know?

-By the way I'm a Ben fan because he is extremely interesting character and hope his upcoming events are very important.

Ben is not done for, not by any stretch of the imagination.
Ben will always be Ben.
And I truly think he will play a key part in what happens in the end.
They don't build up a character as mesmerizing and intriguing as Ben, only to just have him falter by the wayside unnoticed. No, let no one be misled...

Ben has narcissistic personality disorder, the person is completely void of empathy, but fully capable of pretending to have it in infinite measure.

People with this disorder frequently have no mother or a very detached relationship with her. The childhood misery becomes a lust for vengeance, which is masked with a chameleon personality. NPD people are usually extremely bright and rise into leadership positions (through deceit and manipulation).

I think Ben will have a leadership moment again, where everyone is wondering what to do, and he will try to lead, and it'll be like the hyenas in Lion King, each of the people he tries to lead will realize what sort of insidious devil Ben is, and they will swarm him, he will run and SMOKIE will get him. The End.

He follows Locke literally, as we SEE in the PROMO.

Obviously Locke knew some things Ben did not, but I _think_ that ben knows overall more than Locke still.

I think Ben will always be a main charictor in Lost, but i am glad that my favorite charictor Locke is in charge, i think we will be seeing alot more of the charictor i have the most questions about, Richard.

Well, I'd heard a rumor about Locke eventually asking him to do a seemingly impossible task, but I'm not sure if it's true. If it is, maybe he will fail to do it, and smokie will go after him. Either that or he'll try to kill Locke a third and final time and "Alex" will kill him. Either way I'm hoping he survives until sometime next season.

You seem to have made an interesting assessment there. How do NPD personalities usually end up? I'm just curious. I read a blog by a counselor who gave that diagnosis to our current president. Sort of shocked me. He alluded to the same kind of history with the mother issues. More of a mother's abandonment in the pres's case there, than with Ben's mother dying. Don't give an opinion unless you want to.

Seems that a child would not possess the maturity to differentiate between accidental death of a parent and the parent choosing to abandon him or her? I guess you could be a parent in the home and still be unavailable which the child might see as abandonment. Ben's Dad was definitely emotionally distant and punishing. Would you say that Ben didn't have much of a chance? I wonder if if it applies, I don't really know, but I could see some similarities.
BTW, Messiah, is that Tatum O'Neal in your avatar? Looks a lot like her.

I read a blog by a counselor who gave that diagnosis to our current president.I agree with the counselor. I don't know what is typical, but I know lots of religious leaders that crash and burn are NPD. Like probably Jim Jones was NPD. I think Obama's string of sick mentors during his younger adult life is a lost soul attracted to destructive type vengeance type hate. The psychologists mostly all agree that NPD people are pretty much lost causes.Ben's Dad was definitely emotionally distant and punishing. Would you say that Ben didn't have much of a chance? No chance at all. That's the "with much wisdom comes much sorrow" thing. BTW, Messiah, is that Tatum O'Neal in your avatar? Looks a lot like her. It's my daughter, Netty, she's a poet. Thanks for asking.

I still think Ben is in a time loop and I still think he knows more about the island than Locke or anyone else. Alex's message was Locke is the leader, Ben is to follow him, but students of this show know Ben will lay low until an important opportunity presents itself.

Ben will survive until the series finale.
I hope Michael Emerson wins an Emmy.
