So now we know about Dan and his family and how he is related to Penny, or at least we know some of it. We also know that his mother pushed him down a certain path, so that he could go into the past and be killed, just as she remembered it, and thus time would not be altered and nothing bad would happen. We also know that Charles was the one who had relationships with two different people, Eloise being Dan's mother and some so-called outsider being Penny's.

I think we've seen this somewhere before. Just take a look at these two family trees.

1.
Eloise Hawking
|----------------Daniel Faraday
Charles Widmore
|----------------Penelope Widmore
?................|----------------Charlie Hume
.................Desmond Hume

2.
Margo Shephard
|------------------Jack Shephard
Christian Shephard
|--------------------Claire Littleton
Carole Littleton.....|-----------------Aaron Littleton
.....................Thomas

Now we know about Ray Shephard as well, but other than that, these look pretty similar to me. The son/half brother(Daniel and Jack) end up living alone despite their best efforts, both lean more to science, both were pushed by their parents to be the best in their field(and, if I'm recalling correctly, Jack was apparently one of the youngest graduates from his school, just like Dan), etc.

All the while the daughter/half-sister(Penny and Claire) go off and get married and have a child. The difference is that Desmond doesn't get cold feet or run off. Hell, he had a conversation with Claire about Thomas back in 'Live Together, Die Alone'.

And then of course both the fathers have more than one relationship.

The point I'm trying to get at is I think that it's possible that Eloise and Christian knew each other from sometime before, perhaps on the island. Christian had told Locke that he would need to go see Eloise. At the time I just assumed that the Christian we saw was some kind of all knowing spirit, but if he knew Eloise from before, maybe he knew she would help.

How would he know her, though, exactly?

Well, there was one particular line from one of the previous episodes this season about the "Dharma doctor" being away at the Looking Glass. Perhaps that is him. Either that or he was one an Other...

Post your thoughts.

I have not seen this connection discussed here before about Christian knowing Eloise, but it's almost impossible to keep up with every idea on every thread here so..... I don't know why Christian knew her or sent Locke to see her. You raise a very interesting question. I hope someone will post their thoughts on this. I got nuthin'! The Dharma doctor......?

What I was wondering is why they didn't add a woman that has children of two different men.
Now it sounds like the how bad some men are to have children with different women.....as if it doesn't exist the other way around.
