This is a long shot and i really hope it doesnt happen because it would just make the show stupid but if jack kate and the rest of the people in '77 change the future and the plane never does crash on the island then there would be alot ot explain because if that plane doenst crash there, desmond never gets back home and there might never be a purge and the dharma intative may still be on the island. also i believe that if that plane doesnt crash on the island then a whole other plane crashes on the island with differnt survivors and a whole differnt storyline which i believe would completely ruin the entire series of lost also if they do this it might set up for a whole new series. i only say this because we know how the creaters of the lost like to throw you off on a cliffhanger after every single episode which isn't a bad thing and makes people keep watching. This is just a theory and i really hope its wrong i was just wondering what people thought about this idea.

The ability to change an event essentially makes all events meaningless...as somebody could always travel back in time to "undo" said event. Maybe the writers could do something to cover that up, but I can't imagine what that would be.

I dunno, somehow I hope things go in the directon of "impending battle/save the island" rather than changing the past.

I was thinking about this the other day and everything would just suck if 815 never crashed. Rose would die, John would never walk, Charlie would be a druggie, Desmond would still be pressing a button, little Charlie would never exist, Sawyer would still be an ass, Hurley would be REALLY crazy by now, Miles would never find his dad, Kate would be sitting on death row, Ecko would never have found his brother, and WORST OF ALL Nikki and Paulo would still be alive!

But then again a lot of our favorite characters would still be alive....

They would also have to kiss the ass of every actor they fired/let go, to come back and film the landing scenes. I can't see 815 landing safely. We've been led to believe it crashed for a reason, if that reason is so they can go back in time and prevent it from crashing the whole show would've been a waste of time.

Maybe Jack and Kate and co. are just about to make sure ''the incident'' doesnt happen but are brought back to the present time by Sun or someone else, which then makes the incident occur in the first place. Then the story could move back to the ''war to save the island'' rather than trying to change what happened i.e hatch, button, crash etc.(just a thought of mine)

I agree. That would be a BIG dissapointment

I agree that ending the series with 815 landing safely in LA would suck. But what if that is the end of the 5th season.

I could see it play out like this.

They all land safely but fate (or whatever) starts to course correct and bring them all back together, and end up on the island for the first time (from their perspective). Then something awesome happens to culminate the previous five seasons into an explosive, exciting, all explaining finale worthy of a great series.

See?....I got it all figured out...lol

Final episode, season 6:

Close up of Jack's face as he lies prone in the jungle for the final time.

Jack CLOSES his eye.

Fade to black.

The End.

2 things one,no incident no des pushing the button he would either be in another station of if the dharma was still there cuz maybe no purge then he'd just be sent back to the mainland, and rly nikki and pualo besides the killing the guyt were fine and they died unjustly i mean buried alive, ouch

makes sense that'd be intresting if they change it but somehow get back to the island, the only problem with all of this is its a paradox besides the fact that damalton said with this time thing there would be no paradoxes it just wouldnt make sense in the first place if anything it will create a back to the future like alternate timeline, but i agree with what someone else said i think that sun and those guys getting back to 77 will either stop them from changing things or cause the incident in the first place

but instead of suffering the fate of their '77 present, the Losties (except one of them will probably die in a skirmish) will time jump to 2007.

Ben, Locke, Sun, etc. will not know what they know, where or when they've been...
