Im confused about something. Ben and Charles are fighting over the island. Charles has sent mercenaries to the island to capture Ben and to find its location(right?). Ben was killing Charles henchmen through Sayid. So this is a bloody affair. Eloise does business with Ben and can locate the island(the lampost). In last weeks episode "The Variable" we see her talking to Charles(about Daniel).
Now here is why I am confused. Since Charles and Ben seem to use every means available to achieve their objectives, then why doesn't Charles force Eloise to disclose the location of the island and the lampost(if he doesn't know about it already). Ben and Charles both have spies following each-other and the losties, so a there must be someone watching someone as important as Eloise. Or is this another one of those things that will be answered in time?

I think right now your guess could be as good as anyone elses'. I think for any concrete answers on the matter will have to wait for future eps. Welcome to the forum my lord.

Thats a good point and I don't have an answer. Let's just hope it gets resolved.

I get the impression that Charles does not want to return to the island but that he wants Ben to leave the island. His mission (w/ freighter) was to capture Ben and take him off the island rather than to kill Bill.

I think both Ben and Charles know what "needs" to happen so they are just playing things out until the end of the causal loop when the new adventure (whatever that is) can begin. I think Ben (2007) is at the point of not knowing what is next. Soon, IMO, we'll see the 70's Losties flash back and prepare for this new adventure...but not until all the events of the past have been recreated for us giving us a proper background of how things came to be the way they are.

I got the impressin that Hawking and Widmore weren't exactly on friendly terms anymore... just knowing the location isn't enough. There's been the issue that "not even god can see the island" -- at least I that's the quote.

I also agree with the above -- Charles seems more interested in Ben off the island (or dead) that getting back to the island. If he really wanted back, he'd have been on the frieighter.

I think Ellie is on her own side trying to achieve something different than what Ben and Widmore are up to because she seems to have no love for Ben. She helped him get back to the island, and Widmore's whole purpose with the freighter mission was to remove Ben from the island, yet Ellie just sent him back.

Widmore appears to be richer than God with enormous power and influence so just exactly what does he feel Ben cheated him out of. What did he have on the Island that he doesn't have now? He was on permanent bivouac without sanitary facilities. He got to have sex with a really, really, really bad tempered Ellie - I'm astonished that she got pregnant without killing Widmore in the process. And he also got to play Lone Ranger to Richard Alpert's Tonto. There has to be more to being the leader of the Others - or for that matter one of the rank and file members - than we have yet seen.

I've gotten the impression all along that Charles know exactly how to get back to the Island- but has been keeping that secret from Ben Linus. He absolutely does NOT want Ben to go back to the Island...

However, I think Eloise helped Charles find the Island so the Frieghter could go get Ben and I'm ALSO guessing that Eloise has been the "Keeper" of the Lampost ever since she let the Island.

hmmmm...you know that's a really interesing point. Hadn't really thought of that part before.

Okay- so do you think there is any hope for Daniel being "Saved" by Ben then? and THAT is why Eloise sent him back to the Island?

We know Ben was not on 815 so I cannot figure out why Hawking wouldn't pick anyone else but him to be a proxy on 316 unless she needed him back on the island for some reason.

We've nearly completed 5 seasons and I still can't even figure out how many sides there are at this point....grrrrr

Can we assume that Ellie and Charles were an item (married?) on the island, Daniel being their son. And, if I read Elloise's slap across Charle's face, she was reminding him that he cheated on her and fathered Penny with another woman, leaving Elloise to raise Daniel on her own.

A little human-relations interlude in the whole saga.

Hence, contact between Ellie (a woman scorned) and Charles (the scorner) was broken for all these years.

It is odd that Elloise, Charles, and Ben keep crossing paths with the same apparent goal. Elloise definately doesn't like or trust Ben but she did work with him to get the others back to the island. These relationships will be interesting to watch as they unfold.

It is funny to read this. :)

But there is a bitter side at it as well.
If those two "had sex" in stead of "made love"....
If it was a struggle for Widmore, to survive sex with a bad tempered Ellie....than that sounds like she didn't want Widmore at all....and than we are not even talking about "having sex" anymore....but about rape...

I think Widmore, Eloise, and Richard are trying to make sure that Jacob is born and this is why they are manipulating these events. Jacob is from the future and is a time traveler. My guess is that Jacob is Jack's and Kate's son. That's my guess anyway.

LOL. Ellie was a hot Hostile for sure. maybe they did it in the Temple, causing Daniel to have special abilities.
