Can someone explain to me why they are building a hatch (which Hurley recognizes as the Oceanic flight) for an airplane at the Orchid? Doesn't seem like the place to build plane parts.

What? The hatch is part of the Swan.

you should probably go watch all the seasons leading up to this season if you want to understand everything, otherwise you will be asking alot of dumb questions that are pretty complicated to answer. All the episodes are available for free on abc.com, and I suggest starting with season one episode one.

I'm so confused.

When Hurley says "thats the hatch that crashed our plane", the "hatch" was the back door to the facility on the island that caused the plane to crash. The hatch was part of the swan station.

lol! bet that confused the hall outta you.

as said already thats the swan station that desmond was in - he was late in pressing the button inside the hatch and this is what caused 815 to crash on the island. this is what hurley was referring to.

Oh, I thought he said "Dude, they are building the hatch for our plane."

Its the hatch, or swan station, that Desmond failed to push the button in time and pulled the plane down close to the island. Desmond was able to enter the numbers into the computer and reset the clock to 108 minutes, but by that time the airplane had suffered enough structural damage to have a mid-air-break up. This is also what lead to there being three parts of the plane landing at different points on the island.

Check out these three eps: Pilot, part 1; a tale of two cities; and live together, die alone.

Welcome to the forum and watch out, Tuesdays are kinda nasty around here. Everyone needs their lost fix :D

There's no such thing as a dumb question but there is such a thing as a rude reply and that just isn't necessary. You shouldn't be ashamed to ask anything! This show is WAY complicated and tends to fry all of our eggs from time to time!:)

I can see why that would have thrown you for a loop, 3D! I get things mixed up all the time. No sweat!:)

That's the hatch that ended up on the beach with the word "Quarentine" on it. That was after the hatch blew up, imploded, sky turned purple... etc.
