Not sure if this has ever been brought up but, I think Richard may not age because he is dead, similar to Locke, and has been for a while.
Now I know he can leave the island and we not sure what would happen to Locke at this point if he did. But Locke was able to walk when he left the island, so im thinking that when the island heals you its for good. Also Christian has appeared off island.
Any thoughts on Richard being dead?

Richard is not dead. He is old, very old as stated by both Juliet and Ben. By the way, Christian is seen off island and is supposedly dead as well. Welcome to the forum.

Yeah, I mentioned that Christian has appeared off island. Also, if Juliet or Ben was to say Richard is dead and like Locke that would blow the entire mystery around Richard. He could have died 2,000 years ago. So he would be undead for 2,000 as thus very old.

Richard is indeed dead, he is an ancient Pharaoh. His tomb is on the island, I forget exactly where, but it's where the glyphs are, I think.
Pharaohs would live forever if they were famous. I think the show is bringing Egyptian beliefs back to life. They believed Reality is God, and it is. I proved it beyond a reasonable doubt.

Richard isn't old or dead because he hasn't been born yet. Richard is from the future and he was sent back in time to change to fate of his people. Lost is no different than Terminator, but with a different twist.

that could be - the Egyptian tie in -- and Richard's initials "RA" are also the name of an ancient God - Ra - no?? and when they emerged from the underwater tunnels and Jack asked where they weer, Richard casually said "The Temple" and he took, young, injured Ben to "The Temple" and said if we take him and heal.help him he will never be the same (or something similar) - so maybe some ancient Egyptian rite of healing (he was sure he could heal him, too) of re-aniamtion or zombie creation of those that have died??
There is a lot of life/death and life after seemingly dead issues as well as age/time going on and the Egyptians did want to live forever as evidence by the items they ordered placed in their tombs they wanted with them in the afterlife, etc. Also, many people are cured of illness, ailments here...and then there's that issue of new life (the pregnany women) not being able to come to fruition - could also tie in - already dead mothers??
P.S> also an offbeat but perhaps viable clue - the suggested appearance of "eyeliner" around his eye lashes?? similar to Egyptian representations of pharoahs and other depictions and then there's the map on the Swan door and ...

That's an interesting take.

If Richard is indeed dead, maybe that's why he wasn't quite so worried about his own life when Daniel had threatened him in 'The Variable'.
Perhaps he was the first on the island to be "brought back to life", which is why the Others find the place so special.

How do Julliet and Ben know that Richard is old very old?
He has been around while they were around but that doesn't say anything about his age.
Look at Locke. He was there in 54.
Now if someone that was alive in 54 with the others....and is still alive now, to this person it seems that Locke has not aged since 54. And they could have the idea that lock must be very old.
As he was already on the Island in 54 with the age xx of (don't know the age of locke)
and now in 2007 he still looks pretty much the same.
Richard maybe a time travel phenomenon to the people on the Island...just as Locke is.

It could be that Richard was killed like Locke, returned to the island and brought back to life, like Locke, holds some type of significant role with the others, like Locke, therefore Richard and Locke are the same type of "physical matter" (being alive, dead, undead, re-born) what ever you want to call it.
