So any updated theories on what's in that guitar case that Hurley is still lugging around? If it was just a device to replicate the original 815 flight, it seems like he could have gotten rid of it. But instead he took it with him when they made a break for it from the DI. Did he just want to make sweet sweet music on the beach? Can he even play it? Is it the O6 answer to "what's in the crate?"

it is the magic box . either that or hurley will pull out a guitar case full of guns and take everyone on the island out because he is really the terminator . lol had to do it . sorry dude . it is an interesting topic though i mean you are completely right why keep carrying it around if it was just to help recreate the crash . or just may have food in it .

Wouldn't a photo or copy of Driveshaft's cd fit in the pocket better?

Thats funny before you posted this I was pming NotSo about this. Im glad it got brought up. Alot of people will say that they needed it to recreate the 815 flight on 316 however this is not fully true. Hugo was in jail and released the morning of the flight Jack was very suprised to see him there. He missed the entire conversation about the recreation of 815 on 316. So the guitar was brought on his own free will last nights episode put closure to the 815 recreation. Because when they were running into the Jungle Hurley made it a point to carry the guitar case with him. So like John has a purpose so does Hurleys Guitar. If it was for recreation only he would have ditched it after the crash.

Hurley has been referred to as the alchemist a long time ago....I wonder if that fits into this picture at all? He is sensative to seeing the dead in another dimension. But he thinks it's because he is crazy. He is not. He just doesn't remember (?) how to handle his power....hmmmmmmm, something tells me that there is an aweful lot more to Hurley than comic relief!!!!!! Buc, I still say your post about Hurley seeing the dead is pure genious!!!! It's his form of deja vous from the other mirror matter world!!!! Wow!!!!

Hurley saved the day in one season finale by plowing into others with the resurrected van that we'd all (tried our hardest) forgotten about.
Maybe this other, seemingly insignificant (but we know better) prop will help Hurley save the day once again in the finale.

Remember in the first year Charlie was looking for his guitar, and John Locke found it up on a hill? I think Hugo is going to put the guitar there, at the request of Charlie.

That would make a whole lot of since because Charlie had to be the one to play Good Vibrations if he hadnt found is guitar i don think he would have made it.

GREAT idea. wait, the problem with that is, wouldn't charlie in 2004 know if that wasn't the same guitar he brought with him?
guitar being my main hobby and interest in life (i go to berklee college of music soon!!), us guitarists will instantly know if a guitar is a different brand, model or color than it should be, and within 30 seconds I, along with any other guitarist with at least moderate experience, could tell you whether a guitar of the same model/brand/color/etc is the same exact guitar that belongs to me/them.
still, it's possible and a cool theory

It does make a whole lot of sense...although, wouldn't 2004 Charlie notice that it was a different guitar than the one he boarded the plane with?

LOL I thought for sure when all hell was breaking loose and Hurley paused to take a look, he was gonna open that case and take out M-16 or Bazooka or something.

I agree this is a fantastic idea. And you should change your username immediately. (unless you're a Fatalist of course :p lol).
And Maybe Charlie did know the difference but didn't care, or it just piqued his curiosity about the island.

Lol. Well, as soon as you realise you're being "tricked" you're no longer being tricked. Or maybe the quotation marks should be inverted? Anyway, as good as Derryn Brown is, he is just a showman, and he only shows his sucesses. I liken him to the 'talk to the dead guy'.

I wonder if the guitar case and whatever is in it-if anything-is a lucky rabbit's foot for Hurley. Charlie, tho dead, spoke to Hurley at Santa Rosa at least once. Were there other times and other info given to Hurley by Charlie? Although Hurley doesn't seem as paranoid as he used to be, the guitar case and the way he clings to it reminds me of a security blanket. Maybe he does have a quest to do something with it. As a luck piece, it did seem to help him stay afloat in the pool they first landed in after the Ajira flight. Maybe it has something to do with Hurley being one of the ones who went back to 1977 and the DI.
Also, I read a very interesting theory on Hurley being the real variable on the island. That Hurley was the only person who wasn't supposed to be there. The island was trying vigorously to get rid of him(and failing!) by distracting him with Dave, Libby ?, food, and other things. Is Hurley really lucky and not the bad luck guy we may think he is? Who knows? Check out DarkUFO and the latest thread on Follow The leader by Vozzex if interested. (I maybe wrong on the spelling of his name.)
