A piece of land, an exotic island where time doesn't move, was created by an asteroid.
The land surrounded the tomb of an ancient Pharaoh, now known as Richard Alpert.
One day the island surfaced at just the right/wrong time, under a ship named the Black Rock, captained by a man named Widmore.
A list of passengers was in the journal he kept.
He had a knife and a compass, which he entrusted to Mr. Alpert.
He kept his journal, though, his most prized posession, but it was stolen by Ben, who tricked Widmore into breaking the rules of the island, so Widmore had to leave, and therefore age.
Widmore is very angry at Ben, but Widmore broke the rules, so he's unable to do anything other than try to protect the island from Ben.
The list of passengers in the journal includes people who have left the island, whom the island calls back.
In their current incarnation, they have no idea that they've ever been to the island.
Locke chooses the knife, not the compass, and it makes Alpert nervous, because he knows Locke will kill Jacob, which will set into motion a series of unpredictable events; whereas until now, eternal life was a good thing for Richard. But at what cost to the real world?

Oh my this is a good theory! It also means that the idea of lost being a game that can be played over and over could be used in this context as well.
I really like this one!
the game idea and yours really sync!

New[/COLOR] Age Messiah;217744]A piece of land, an exotic island where time doesn't move, was created by an asteroid.
Time moves on the island as has been proven by Daniel's experiment. Also, the idea of the island being hit by an asteroid is a theory that has been around for a very, very long time.
The land surrounded the tomb of an ancient Pharaoh, now known as Richard Alpert.
Richard is not a pharaoh. Prove it.
One day the island surfaced at just the right/wrong time, under a ship named the Black Rock, captained by a man named Widmore.
How could the island have surfaced under the Black Rock when we saw it off the coast? Did the island turn on its warp drive and dive under the ocean? Also, it is canon fact that ALVAR HANSO was captain of the Black Rock.
A list of passengers was in the journal he kept.
This is possible as a manifest is always kept.
He had a knife and a compass, which he entrusted to Mr. Alpert.
Who had a knife and compass? Locke? Well, yeah, we saw him open a suitcase full of knives on the island. What's your point?
He kept his journal, though, his most prized posession, but it was stolen by Ben, who tricked Widmore into breaking the rules of the island, so Widmore had to leave, and therefore age.
The Black Rock journal was kept by the first mate...check your facts. It was recovered somewhere near Īle Sainte-Marie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%8Ele_Sainte-Marie), an island off the coast of Madagascar. The journal became the property of Tovar Hanso who kept it until it was auctioned off and purchased by Charles Widmore.
Widmore is very angry at Ben, but Widmore broke the rules, so he's unable to do anything other than try to protect the island from Ben.
Widmore is a selfish SOB who wants the island for his own purposes of no good.
The list of passengers in the journal includes people who have left the island, whom the island calls back.
That is utterly rediculous!
In their current incarnation, they have no idea that they've ever been to the island.
Who is incarnated? Prove this please.
Locke chooses the knife, not the compass, and it makes Alpert nervous, because he knows Locke will kill Jacob, which will set into motion a series of unpredictable events; whereas until now, eternal life was a good thing for Richard. But at what cost to the real world?
Locke choses the knife which shows Richard that he is not important or special at all. Why does Richard's immortality, if that's even true, have anything to do with the real world? How would you know anything about the real world anyway?
Are you rewriting LOST? Because you aren't using any of the facts we already know...just curious.

That is an amazing website and SO much info. It seems to be true, too.

I don't know Notso, I am not really ready to write off anything just yet.
I still like the game idea though.

Notso,
It's a theory I wrote quite a while before the finale.
The Black Rock may or may not surface on the island as it appears. It's my theory that a peice of Tunesia is sucked clear through the earth after a cosmic bullet rips into the ocean where the island is now, and pierces through to Tunesia, creating the black hole, the mirror universe, and all the weird time issues.
It's the best and only theory out there, that not only explains the scientific phenomena but the spiritual as well.
I think the Black Rock Journal was kept on the island after the shipwreck, that the RULES were written into it as they were told to the captain, who I think was Widmore, who may be aka Hanso.
I think Ben ratf* Widmore, and I think Richard helped Ben, because Richard feared Widmore because Widmore had faith, and Richard works against faith. That's why he told Sun that he watched everyone die.
I THOUGHT Richard was a Pharaoh because he is ageless and looks like an Egyptian, but obviously Jacob is the Egyptian and maybe Richard is "Caesar" or some Roman who conquered Egypt.
I think everyone has died time and time again, and Richard has watched, and NOW they won't, because Jack had faith and Locke chose the knife, etc.

Sure, the game theory is a great one! It's been around forever. That's nothing new. And Jacob and the guy in the dark shirt could be playing it. Perhaps they have been playing it for eons. I'm not writing that off. I'm writing off all of the misinformation though.

one thing - widmore aged ON the island too. we know this as we saw him as a young man in 1954 and then by 1977 he had aged as he should have.
black rock idea - i dont think the island surfaced under it as such, but i wonder if the island moved whilst the ship was still at sea and this is the explanation for it being in the middle of the island?
notso - even if people makes a few mistakes as they havent been privy to other information elsewhere.....you could point it out a little more diplomatically ;) you don't like when people speak to you like that. do unto others etc....:p

I'll think about it.black rock idea - i dont think the island surfaced under it as such, but i wonder if the island moved whilst the ship was still at sea and this is the explanation for it being in the middle of the island? You might have read this, I've written it several times. I think "Goddess" (Ma'at, the boss of Jacob?) throws a bullet to create this environment for her boys to play out their game. I think somehow it starts at the same point over and over again, and it's when the island surfaces under the Black Rock.

I think one theory on the aging is that when the button was pushed every 108 minutes it reset time. So their bodies were living the same 108 minutes in time over and over but not their minds.
