i guess that the way Locke vanished in front of him would have made him seem crazy if he told anyone else

Ellie sure didn't forget Dan from '54, so I think Ethan would not forget somebody disappearing right in front of him. We know he hit Locke in the leg, so maybe Ethan found blood on the ground and knows he's not crazy.

Ok--the question then is Does Ethan tell Ben? Richard?

Ethan seems to be the kind of guy who wouldn't bother telling Ben or Richard anything. He did kidnap Claire and Charlie without their permission, if I'm recalling correctly.

I think he had Ben's permission, maybe even instructions about kidnapping pregnant women. Ethan may have gone back to report once or twice before capturing them.

But back in 'Maternity Leave', Claire watched as Tom and Ethan had a little conversation in the Staff about Ethan being in trouble with Ben.
