Apologies if this has been discussed in the last 3 years but I am rewatching "Live Together, Die Alone" and when Libby is talking to Desmond in the coffee shop she says her husband's name is Dave and he died a month earlier. We all know Hurley sees dead people so could the Dave from the mental hospital following him around be Libby's dead husband? Is his death the reason that Libby ended up being in the mental hospital with Hurley?

I was always under the impression that Libby was lying about everything she said to desmond. I think someone else used her as a front to give desmond the boat. Most likely Widmore.

I noticed that to, its a possibility for sure. To bad we'll never know, as TPTB have said they aren't going to tie up the Libby story because they "don't have time".

Kind of pisses me off considering they had time to be in bear cages for no reason for practically an entire season.

Brilliant deduction about Libby! Someone posted an article that led nowhere about answering things about the season finale, however, it stated Cynthia Watros (the actor who plays Libby) will not return to the show to do some flashback that could answer questions. Frankly, I don't blame any actor for not returning after being killed off, but it might show elements of valor or a willingness to overcome odds.

Season 6 just better have a huge explosion and solve every problem. In the mean time, we can rewatch previous seasons to look for clues and accuracy in story lines.

LOL, yeah I know have so season 6 will be 16 episodes long?? why can't they make it longer to tie up loose ends like that? will abc not let them? or is it their choice?

Actually I think that there'll be 17 hours total, it's just that they usually do two hour season finales so it'll be 16 episodes.

I think that they can't change it since they agreed to do three more 17 hour seasons after the third season(of which the fourth was cut even shorter due to the writer's strike), rather than two 20something hour seasons.

well, if you want to get technical they agreed to do three more seasons at 16 hours each. season 4 was cut to 14 because of the strike so they agreed to add on the two missing hours onto the next two seasons, making them 17. splitting hairs, i know.

Libby won't be back but maybe Dave's character can come back for a scene and explain this (if he is her husband) and then we can all live happily ever after.

It is possible. And I know there have been a lot of conversations about Hurley's ability to interact with the dead, but I had the impression that Dave wasn't dead and interacting with Hurley, but rather a manifestation of Hurley's subconscious. More specifically, the part of Hurley's subconscious that always wanted to eat.

Yes, that's what I've always thought too. I think that's what we are supposed to think. I'm just saying maybe they had planned to have that twist but then Libby got arrested and kicked off the show so they canned the idea. Is it just coincidence that they have an episode called "Dave" then 4 shows later they go out of their way to have Libby say her husband's name is Dave. Seems fishy to me, but I'm sure we'll never know.

Your sentiment here is what I have felt at times because where they were leading us, as we found out later, was into a dead end. We got out of our cars after the detour sign. We figuratively put on our miner's helmet's, rock climbing gear and thoroughly investigated every angle of the dead end street and buildings, looking for secret passage ways, freakin' trap doors and hidden panels! Only to realize that it was constructed like an amazing hologram on the holodeck of Star Trek!!

But I don't feel it was a real waste of my time because the journey has been as important as the destination. Literary devices like this have served to make the show the huge conundrum we have all come to love. I wonder if I could have changed anything, would I have?

bear cages for no reason? The whole reason they were their was so Jack would perform the life-saving surgery on Ben. Sawyer and Kate were used as paws in his attempt. Theyalso used them to help build the runway that Jacob wanted built which ultimately probably saved their lives. Also it created issues when Jack saw Kate with Sawyer monkeying around in the bear cage making Jack wanting to do the surgery so he can get off the Island. And if I am correct they werent in the cage the wole season because they had let free when Jack did the surgery and made their way across the Island with Carl.

I believe it was Michelle Rodriguez (Ana Lucia) who got arrested and kicked off the show.

If Dave was Libby's husband, and Libby was in the mental hospital with Hurley, maybe that is why Hurley saw Dave there. Then, when Libby and Hurley were getting close on the island, Dave tried to get Hurley to kill himself. A little jealous of Hurley moving in on his wife, maybe?

Well i think they were together in the car at the time and both were arrested.

Both.

Very good thought about Dave getting Hurley to jump. A new twist on our hypothetical story line!

You're absolutely right...different cars, but together. Check out the mug shots!
