Jacob "Help Me"

Don't know if this has been said or not. But when we first heard Jacob say the words "Help Me", we all presumed he was talking to Locke because he heard it. But is there any chance he could of been talking to Ben (Jacob already knowing that in the future Locke will try and kill him)

That is interesting. However, I don't think that Ben heard Jacob say anything. When Ben shot John and he fell into the pit with all the Dharama dead Ben asks John what did Jacob tell you. John said Help Me. I don't know if Ben took that as John asking for help or that is what Jacob said.

This has intrigued so many of us!! The faceless ethereal Jacob saying in an anguished and plaintive voice Help me has always made me think he was a captive victim. He didn't seem to want to hurt John, but he definitely got hostile with Ben. I wonder if Jacob is some form of "John" and the crashing stuff in the cabin was because 2 John's too close to each other might create unstable matter just like the 2 bunnies. This is why Christian had to meet with John and has guided him instead? When "John" tries to kill "Jacob" will he be destroying himself? I don't read every thread so this may be have been hashed out already.....

Ben originally thought Locke was asking for help. When Ben first asked Locke what did Jacob say, locke said "Help me". Ben, thinking Locke was asking for help, told John he wasnt playing around or something and said something to the effect of you heard him what did he say? Locke again saidsomething like "He said 'Help Me'" Thats when Ben kinda shuddered a little and said something like "I certainly hope he helps you" somehting like that. So yes at first he thought Locke was asking for help than realized thats what Ben said. And no, Ben did ot hear Jacob say "Help Me"

I personally never thought of it that way, and because Ben is such a liar he could have been lying to Locke that he didn't hear him. I think it is a plausible theory. Maybe Ben just wanted to know if John heard him as well. Another thing is the way Ben reacted to Jacob getting all poltergeisty in the cabin, he grabbed the chair and shook it, telling him that was enough (or something to that effect), almost like he was superior to him or something.

I totally agree. I would have said "exactly" but there is a minimum character requirement for a post.

But both Ben and Locke think it was Jacob who spoke.
I doubt if Ben heard him,cos when Locke first answered him he didn't get it and asked him again.
If he had heard it,he wouldn't have asked John a second time,unless that was part of his deception too.
