How long do you think that Jacob and the other guy (the one from the beach) have been stuck in a Time Loop, 300 years? I think that that the battle is between those trying to break the loop (the other guy) and those trying to keep it (Jacob)

I thought Jacob was the one Bringing people to the island and Anti-Jacob was the one trying to say it was pointless...and Jacob stated "its progress"?

I thought Jacob was the one Bringing people to the island and Anti-Jacob was the one trying to say it was pointless...and Jacob stated "its progress"? Since they are stuck in a time loop they wouldn't remember anything when the loop reset--the Black Rock may have been a "variable"---perhaps that was what he meant by "its progress" As these variables occur it gives the opposite a chance to find a "loophole"? For all we know this loop has been operating for thousands of years.

So the statue was still standing when the Black Rock arrived I assume? How is it in the ondition it is in 2007? I know it has been sometime but a huge stone statue on the island had to have something or someone to destroy it.

It's not a time loop. It is the eternal battle of good verses evil. What they were referring to was that mankind never seems to learn his lesson and great civilizations fall only to make a tiny bit of progress for humanity.....this has been a cosmic battle for eternity. Didn't you get the metaphor of Jacob and his loom? He was weaving the fabric of time!!!!

This fabric of time idea is just what I posted on Lissa's thread! Jacob is the master weaver, the people he touched are his threads. He was working on the loom and his threads just before he went out to sit on the beach waiting for the ship. This is awesome!!

Yes!! I just saw that! And did you notice what was on his fabric? It was pictures of people!!! I can't wait for a screencap of that so I can get a real good look at it!!! What a great metaphor, right? And the comment on the beach about mankind always doing the same thing and making little progress...something like that. He was talking about mankind and all the great civilizations that have destroyed themselves, the Roman's, Egyptians, ets., and made little progress for humanity in the process. Is there hope for mankind, will he ever learn his lesson? That is exactly what was said in the ending of The Stand.
