if you are saying the smoke monster is different from the guy sitting with jacob at the beginnig of tonights episode than i agree , i cant understand why everyone thinks they are one in the same . i said in another post that when ben told john that his dead daughter came and told him to follow locke and do whatever he says .john or the other entity which i believe was that guy at the beginning in johns body at the time was surprised . this also signals to me that the island favors this person and not jacob and to give backup to this remember the sentence on the movie in room 23 carl was watching said god loves you as he LOVED jacob . again leads me to believe the island does not agree with jacob . also am i the only one who finds it odd that the others were following a person that god does not favor . just weird . any debaters here lets do this thing . i would love some input .

I agree the guy with Jacob is not smokie. The messages in room 23 came from a time when Ben was the leader, so they may have been twisted to fit his own agenda. I still think Jacob has a plan and will return. The island is being controlled by both of them for their own plans.
