Does any one else see the similarity between the Wildmore/Linus....war of sorts, and the brief look into Jacob and ''The other guy''? He said, ''Do you know how much I want to kill you...'' (possibly not exact quote). The same way Ben confronts Charles face to face and can't kill him. The way these ''rules'' work, I think that the Island really is a seperate entity than Jacob. Something to the effect of...the Island and Jacob are sort of at war, (the other guy being one of those Locke/Christian manifestations of the Island). This would explain why ghost-Locke would want to kill Jacob, but only Ben Linus could do it. (Irony just pours out of everything these guys think of.)
Hell, Jacob could have created the Island somehow either being godlike or highly advanced. Caused a normal island to have those 'exotic particles' and god knows how many other traits (physical manifestations included). Would explain how Jacob is able to make Richard live so long.
The 1st part seems more possible in general.

I found the dialogue exchanged btwn jacob and other guy very similar as well to ben/widmore in the bedroom that night. I am leaning towards thinking other guy is either what controls smokie or is a manifestation of smokie as well. any thoughts?

I have a few ideas. Maybe there are areas on the island that are timeless (as in not affected by time) and richard is a manifestation of that? Jacob is in one of these areas? Maybe there the pockets of energy is a portal to another place? (thinking stargate here). I have thought for some time there must be a way of leaving the island. Richard among others have done this lots. Also why do people need to be knocked out when leaving on sub?
Maybe the locke body is locke from another future so the locke with ben will die for real sometime in the future and jacob wanted it brought you show anti jacob (locke) that he has found a loop hole of his own?
Not sure what that all means but cant get past those points!

First of all, we still have no idea what the island is all about, because we haven't really gotten enough info yet. But we can conclude that Jacob and this other guy are serious enemies and are tied to the island somehow.
I'm assuming there is a much larger supernatural force between these two on the island because why does Jacob keep bringing people to the island and why does the other dude want to kill jacob so much? From the opening conversation, we can tell that there is a physical and mental battle between the two, but they both cannot hurt each other; the island has rules. I'm thinking that Jacob brings people to the island to prove to the other guy that people are good and will defeat evil, in this case, the other guy.
Since the other guy can't physically hurt jacob, he must use the people brought to the island to kill jacob, by either being the smoke monster or controlling smokie.
Jacob never lived in that creepy cabin, but he trapped anti-jacob in there (we have no proof for this but we can assume it). Also, somehow anti-jacob was freed from the cabin and got away. Anti-jacob uses Christian's body(the father of jack), to cover his identity and to gradually manipulate john locke into killing himself so anti-jacob can use john's body to fool everyone, including ben, since john locke is the leader and everyone listens to him. And really, John Locke REALLY IS dead now. Anti-jacob even uses Alex's body to make ben think he must listen to john locke, so he will follow john's orders into killing Jacob.
As for Richard, i think he was made ageless by Jacob, so he could always be jacob's assistant.
As for our losties, who knows what is going to happen to them. I think they will go back into the present and help fight the battle against anti-jacob or something. But for know, we don't know what's going on

If you read the story about Enki & Enkil (Google it) you will learn this is where the writers are getting their plot ideas. Jacob is Enki and his island companion is Enkil. They are The Ancients. Enki is good and Enkil is bad. They have been warring for thousands of years. Richard is Jacobs son. That's why he doesn't age. Enki, according to sumerian texts and the Bible, is the one who warned Noah of the coming flood. Enki is always saving mankind. Enkil is always trying to destroy them. In the episode he said: "It's alaways the same, they fight, they destroy.....blah blah". Jacob says: "there is only one end, everything else is progress".The Island is the fabeled Garden of Eden were mankind began. Remember, man was banished from the garden. That's why women can't have children there. According to Sumerian texts Enki & Enkil are decendants of the God Anu from Nibiru. They are Anunnaki. That is why Locke (Enkil) was suprised when Enki (Jacob) told him that they are coming. Sumerian texts and the Myan calander states that Nibiru is due back in our solar system in 2012. Nobody is supposed to be able to find Eden. That's why on LOST they can move the Island. They are taking just bits and pieces from the story of Enki and Enkil to create a good TV show. I still like LOST even though I have figured out where they are going with this. Check out the cloth that Jacob weaved. If you look closely, you will see It tells the story of the coming of The Ancient Gods. Yes, the ones that actually built the Pyramids in Giza. If you don't believe me.....look it up yourselves! If you have an open mind to this, please respond.
