i have been a fan all along...and the writers have said you can figure it out from the show? the writers are full of it.
sick of all of the new characters...all of the new storylines...like every few weeks it is a new show. and now jacob handpicked each of them. More and more questions raised than answers provided has become SO SO annoying. I feel like i wasted five years of dedication. I swear the next thing we are going to find out is there are aliens on this show. the whole thing has become so freaking retarded.
The only good thing that came from last night is that I won't have to deal with any anticipation after this season....if they killed the series right here, I wold not ber that upset. No wonder they are losing so many viewers.

they are losing viewers because its a sci fi show that early on posed as a prime time drama. It picked up a lot of viewers who were more concerned about who Kate ended up with than what was going on with the island. these peopel bailed when the show went sci fi.
The show is still great.

As Sawyer said to the island,"Good riddance".
This show is not for everyone, especially those who won't give it a chance to conclude and see the big picture.
It has been losing viewers from the start.like many shows do,but who cares?
The number of viewers doesn't make a squats diffrence to it's credibility.

Here's my question: Did Jacob pick these people? Did he have something to do with them being on the Island? Or does he just know somehow that these are the people that are going to end up on the Island and he is just visiting him. I'm thinking Jacob is traveling back in time to witness these things but that doesn't really work out since he saved Sayid/kiled Nadia, convinced Hurley to come back, and potentially brought Locke back to life.

Those who still watch the show prove that they can think for themselves. They don't stop watching over stupid, pety reasons like "it's too confusing" or "it's too rediculous". If you don't want something out of the ordinary, what are you doing watching tv?

exactly, like did jacob and mysterio nemesis have some sort of test agreement or bet, and they got to choose people they both agreed on or whatever (this is totally outlandish theory) but those people were chosen to be put on the island. I think it comes down to when the ash was put around the cabin, and if widmore knew the real jacob. because widmore and abaddon got people on the island, so was it for jacob or M.N.? or both, maybe they each chose people to bring to the island.

good point. it's not for everyone. this show will try your patience. There have been times in the past when I felt like I was just watching because I didn't want to give up. Like watching Lost was more like running a marathon than being entertained.
I would say not to give up for these reasons. If you have time to watch I would say finish it up since you made it this far. the thing that bothers me is when I suspect they are doing things for business reasons instead of artistic ones. then I feel like I'm not committing to something worth while and just being suckered into buying some product. This does happen sometimes actually but overall I am happy enough with the show to keep going with my commitment. that's just how I feel but I respect your opinion if you drop out now.

...they jump to conlcusions. What I said was "getting sick of this show". I did not state I would discontinue watching, did I? Personally, I think it has been dragged on and on and on. Getting sick of more and more questions being raised and feel like it is time for more answers. I am entitled to my opinion and I am also entitle to share it. Nah true? And I should be free to do so without insults such as Jeremy's I don't know how to think and whatnot.
Clearly some of you need to remember that there are real people on the other side of your monitor. Of course, if there are any like minded people, they won't say a word considering how some of you totally OVERREACT.

Yeah, heaven forbid someone make a derogatory comment or point out flaws with this show. I'm with you, Headscratch - this show walks the line between frustrating and entertaining and has recently been leaning well into the former. Darlton clearly make a lot of stuff up as they go along and then have the arrogance to tell viewers that some key questions (I.e., what's up with the numbers?) won't be answered.
I only continue to watch the show for 2 reasons - (A) I decided back in Season 3 that I wanted answers and would ride it out to get them and (2) I'm a glutton for punishment. And now I'm learning that Darlton won't even be giving us all of the answers to key storyline questions that sucked people in during Seasons 1 and 2. But they're more than happy to make time for pointless-ass Bernard and Rose to promote their left-wing, pro-environment hippie agenda.
FU, Darlton! Thank you and goodnight.

yes, that's the prevailing theory right now. mysterio said he would find a loophole someday in the first scene and then jacob said you found your loophole in the final scene so... 1 + 1 = 2.

I hadn't thought about Bernard & Rose that way... Actually I try not to think about Rose & Bernard at all. Their story seems quite implausible right now and completely pointless anyway. but if that were the case at least wasting our time with Rose and Bernard has some sort of message. Most of this love quadrangle crap is wasting my time for nothing.

Hmmm....You spent your apparently precious time to get on here to post a message about how much you hate the show on the show's message board...And I need to get a life? Chances are your previous posts never get any play because they are ridiculous and you were looking for something to get a response out of people. CONGRATULATIONS!!! 99% of the people on this show spend a few minutes a day...Or many, many hours because they love the show, and yes, maybe have a little too much time on their hands...But you expected a different response from "See ya later, pal?" I think you need someone right now because you're an attention whore.

LOL...Yes Workman. You CLEARLY DO NEED to get a life and you clearly have too much time on your hands to behave so. But okay...let's play:
You certainly have issues since you cannot allow others have an opinion without your completely freaking out. For the record...everything in life is not black and white: I never stated "how much I hate the show". I would liken it to annoyances. For example: You are quite annoying, but I don't hate you. You simply CHOOSE see things in one extreme or another as you clearly did with that line.
As for your needing to go see a professional after the show is over: I take that back. You certainly need some attention. you need to go see someone and NOW as I do not think it is a good idea you wait until after the show is over as there is an indication you may go postal at that point. I don't come on here for my posts "to get some play" as must be your clear intent since you make a comment like that. Sad. And with that said, the question becomes, you are the attention whore, aren't you? Clearly you must be Mr. Senior member as it seems to be where you are coming from.
Now I will ask you: What kind of a response did you expect with that kind of name calling? And another...it seems you might drink like Workman, nah true? Do you beat your kids like Workman? Or is it that you have no kids to be at and so you use other people to do that to? Nevermind, seems you are suffering more than enough.
LOL! Now go get that life and see you later pal. :)

no he's not, we are assuming he is, but after re-watching last nites SF, there are more entities on that island helping him out then we know!
last nites opening scene, anti-jacob says "one of these days' some day soon ,WE'RE gonna find a loophole my friend"!!

This show is awesome! In fact, I didn't even like the show until I found about about the hatch, then I went back and re watched the beginning. But please, babies gettin kidnapped is really lame compared to what we got going on now. That baby thing just went dead in the water though didn't it? Nobody seems to care about babies on the island any more, seems like they are fine, even though this was the big drama of season one, that babies can't be born on the island and stuff. Please. I just fast forwarded all of that.
This show, however, is like one big awesome movie and the best way to watch it (which I will probably do a few times) is on dvd, marathon style. It is truly gratifying.
Evil Locke, eh?
I thought that it was alternate locke, and that perhaps Jacob is evil. But he didn't seem very nice. hmm...

Has anyone considered that Jacob will inhabit Locke's "other" body and we'll end with Locke on Locke action? http://www.lost.com/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif
I'll have to admit that I too found this season a little disappointing. There is a tension between knowing and not knowing the mysteries. TPTB know this, and they want to honor this. Even so, I have faith that we will be satisfied with the ending. After all, it's a television show, and the creativity of even extremely creative people has limits.
Besides, anything will be better than the Seinfeld ending!

Sincerely interesting and diverse responses. Just like the show - we have some very cool people here on the message board who can handle the hard things. And then we got some real jerks like Dr. Violence (who would of thunk with a name like that) who just cannot seem to control themselves and would rather resort to ignorance, attacks or namecalling rather than have some real discussion. Oh and sorry guys, I am not going anywhere. :D
I am completely fascinated how some people can take something that really has little to nothing to do with them personally, yet take it so personally. Kind of scary actually that people can be THAT insecure to allow themselves to become so LOST in a fantasy sci-fi show. Yeah it is great and all that, but at the end of the day, it is jsut a freakingftv show. Those of you like that should probably NOT visit any dianetics centers or even open the doors for Jehovah's witnesses as you may feel as though you were touched by the hands of Jacob...LOL. In all honesty, this says quite alot about the sad state of our society and civilization and how LOST people really are these days. Perhaps these folks should pay closer attention to this show as there apparently are lessons you could learn there and something I think the writers are trying to teach you. Perhaps a little philosophical thought about that would be helpful.
For the record, I have been quite impressed with lost as a whole and that certainly has not changed despite my disappointment. I was a pretty big star trek fan which faded with each new star trek show, outer limits and other sci-fis and not a single one of them pleased me all the time. I fondly remember Hitchcock reruns as a kid. My favorite of all time was 6 feet under which some might argue was not a sci-fi which of course I would not agree with...maybe more a favorite than lost now, and some of those episodes annoyed me as well and at times I felt like they were making me sick too. Bot hshows do have much in common. But I watch the 6 feet reruns here and there still.
I'd really like to meet some of you nasty folks in person to see how tough you are in real life. You folks are just the kind of people I like to eat for breakfast. If you are ever in the Philly area, look me up...maybe I can have you over for breakfast. :p
I sincerely hope we are not in for a big let down. Some other folks I talked to agree that it is kind of beginning to look like that may be the case. So long as it isn't any worse than what happened with the Sopranos , I think I can live with it. Be nice guys. And don't let your emotions run your life. You have free will you know. So chill out. Life is very short.

So you're saying you'd like it better if it were more predictable? I love it when they throw out something unexpected, like Locke's body tumbling out of that box.
headscratch
05-15-2009, 05:04 PM
...predictable is not the right word. I guesss when the writers say you can figure it out from what is in the show and then they throw out jacob and the black shirt after five years, I feel somewhat decieved. I can best describe my current feelings as a love-hate realionship. I have loved the story but I don't think the writers have been straight up with thier representations and if there is anything that this fellow dislikes, it is deception. Yep - love hate and right now I feel completely decieved.
Some are saying smokie and black shirt are one in the same. I think an argument could be made that jacob and smokie are on in the same just as well. We have always heard about Jacob and Smokie, but never this black shirt guy. I have always had a love-hate relationship with philosophy and the show reminds me of the types of arguments our forefathers had with the tabula rasa feelings of John Locke and the inherent evil of man, beliefs of Hobbes which the forefathers debated greatly. Locke believed we needed freedom to bloom while Hobbes believed we needed to be controlled to save us from our selves...similar to the political philosophies of our present day American politics. Undoubtedly the show shakes the very core of each one of us and our own beliefs as of free will versus predestination and whether man is inherently good or born with a blank slate, or inherently bad and needing to be controlled. These questions shake most people who study these sorts of things to the very core and perhaps why emotions run somewhat high here. And then there is the argument that good and bad are just opposites of the same inherent thing and that opne can not exist without the other. It would be a little more comforting knowing where things are headed to some degree where you could figure it out but not easily. I always love the show where you can figure it out but it is very challenging...I just do not think anymore that this is really that kind of a show because the questiosn being raised are so philosophical that there are no right or wrong answers just good arguments from both sides. God I love philosophy. God I hate philosphy.

the show is certainly frustrating, but it only ends once. The rest is just progress.

So you're saying you'd like it better if it were more predictable? I love it when they throw out something unexpected, like Locke's body tumbling out of that box.
You didn't see that coming? Damn.

aha! so are you/Jacob saying WHH? :)
...predictable is not the right word. I guesss when the writers say you can figure it out from what is in the show and then they throw out jacob and the black shirt after five years, I feel somewhat decieved. I can best describe my current feelings as a love-hate realionship. I think you have a very valid criticism in regards to predictability. I have just read this complaint on a few other threads now. If this were done right, the flashback scenes with Jacob would have probably been exposed to us over the course of several seasons like everything else, i.e. Richard and Abaddon visiting people.

Perhaps it seems pulled out of thin air, but we probably have not yet fully seen why Jacob visiting them is relevant. So, the fact we saw him visit all of them is supposed to help us predict something that will happen next season. In other words, Jacob visiting them is not the random reveal, but this is only a precursor to a bigger reveal next season.
