When Jacob Met Sayid...

all over the forums people keep saying that jacob stopped sayid from dieing which i think is wrong.

if you watch that scene again i think both sayid and nadia would have made it well safe and on the other side before that car came and had jacob not approached them.

She was standing there for a bit before she was struck! If he was not interrupted they would've jut continued walking! i think he wanted her gone because she would've prevented him from "going back".

That's a good point; Nadia did take quite a pause in the middle of that road. So Jacob wasn't saving Sayid, he was killing Nadia.

haha i didnt even realise that with the name.

but totally agreed its pretty clear that jacob wanted her out the way so nothing would be stopping sayid's return to the island.

i thought more people would have noticed that pretty early as sayid hung back quite a bit and nadia lingered around.

I disagree. It didn't look like Nadia being hit by that car was an accident. I say there was an intent to kill and they would have hit Nadia regardless of whether or not she made it across the street. I still think Jacob saved Sayid's life although I think he probably could have saved Nadia's as well if he wanted to, but probably didn't intentionally...

Yeah the fact that the car drove off so quickly makes me believe it was supposed to happen. It wouldn't be the first time "the others" initiated a death by vehicle to facilitate their purpose (remember Juliette's ex?). On a side note, why don't television characters ever look before they cross the street?

I agree with you. Jacob definatly had some alterier motives. one quick side note. Knowing sayid as well as we do to be the genious military man he is we would think he would grab jacob and karate chop his head for getting his woman killed. But that's besides the point. I was thinking about kates run in with jacob as well in regards to this line of thought. And if jacob doesn't buy that lunch box for kate maybe her and her friend don't bury that airplane and she has no reason to go back and eventually get him killed. Cause don't they bury that plane in that lunch box? Or am I mistaken. I think jacob is more sinister than we think.

Do you think Widmore works for Jacob? I am puzzled on that one because they haven't brought up any reference again to Widmore telling Locke that if he doesn't go back the wrong side is gonna win. Now I just don't know whose side he was referring to, Jacob or Anti-Jacob.

I'm going with the ben/smokie, widmore/jacob alliances for today mostly because I think ben has a little smokie in him from when he was 'healed' at the temple, and the ben/widmore conversation about wanting to kill me but can't from last season. So if I align ben with smokie, I have to align widmore with jacob...i haven't made that connection totally yet.

I think the more important question is why does Jacob want Sayid back on the island? What does he do? Shoots Ben, which makes him an other and so on, ultimately leading to Jacob's death?

A little off-topic here, but didn't you think that was one stunt woman's or man's realistic hairy and epic scene? It looked so awful--the rolling and flailing and all, Wow! Kudos to the stunt person!! Horrible and great at the same time.

I might have missed it.. (I haven't got to rewatch it yet) But did Syaid actually kick the bucket? I thought he was right there but I don't remember him 'confirmed dead'? (no pun intended lol)
