a flaw in the smoke monster

all this talk of "smokey" made me rember the episode when kate and other person (who's name i forget)are running and the monster can't get past the sonic fence, and it apperes to hit an invisable wall... well how is it that a few episodes earlyer kate and lock and there little rescue party could clime over the fence? the smoke monster can't go OVER the fence when it... well... flies!

not above tree level but it could easly go higher than the fence, like when he killed the piolt, the front of the plain was way up in the air and it crashed through the front window! and when he was killing mr echo!

Well the smoke monster is too wide to go over one pylon and I think the sonic range goes above the height of the fence,but not directly above the pylons themselves.
Kate and co went directly over a pylon where the sonic range wasn't present,a lucky escape.

IMO, I believe the smoke monster skims the surface of objects (I.e trees, plane, ground.) the sonar fence has no surface for old smokie to climb. Kate and co. Had the branch to climb over with. It is said that the fence is the only thing that keeps smokie out

I asked that question when it first happened. There's no intelligent answer. It was a mistake by the writers.

I think Perhaps it creates a "dome" or "bubble" as opposed to a fence?
It makes me feel better!!

Well, there like really is no invisable barrier is there? I mean, you can like walk straight through it if you want to. You head gets like blown apart but still.....
