Many people think that the statue on the shore is Taweret the hippopotamus goddess of fertility but this statue is holding Ankhs and Taweret is not. Symbols are very important in Egyptian sculpture and can differentiate between two different gods. Sobek is a crocodile headed god who holds an ankh and a staff, it still isn't exact but it's closser than the hippo. Additionally Taweret has a body type that is more hippo than human and Sobek has the body of a human and wears only a skirt which is exactly what the statue on the beach wears. It aslo turns out that Sobek is a god of fertility. Sobek is responsible for catching the "four sons of Horus in his net." Well isn't horace the man who built Jacobs cabin? Maybe just a coincidence. Let me also get your opinion on something else. What if the origional failsafe for the Swan was a nuclear device? Desmond activated it which canceled the pocket of energy. Dharma didn't want to destroy it becuase they wanted to use it but they knew how to disable it just in case. If this is true then will Juliete appear naked in the jungle after having a brief encounter with Daniels mom? Was the first explosion the "incident"? Faraday never actually said he wanted to destroy the island but just get rid of the Swan. Maybe he knew that the H-Bomb would just destroy the pocket an nohing else so that the island would still exist but the Swan would not. This means that the plane would never crash. If the bomb destroys the island then Faradays mom will die and he won't be born. And does anybody else think that Jacobs cabin looks alot like the cabin Brenard was living in?

Quite correct, sir, up to this point. Sobek is not only a male fertility god, but a protector of both Set and Ra who nudges them into deciding their own course of action rather than deciding for them. Basically, he brings order out of chaos. this is an interesting choice as Sobek is a very ambiguous, somewhat minor (yet quite ancient), deity who can be seen as either good or evil. he's also associated with water and with creation coming from the sea--and is either the husband of Hathor or Tawaret, depending on who you ask.

according to Lindelof/Cuse, Jacob is good, so we can only wonder why he identifies with the crocodile god of the Nile. i'm sure he has his reasons, but it's interesting that the temple is apparently consecrated to Anubis while the statue is Sobek.

good point but it's unlikely ellie would be offed at this point. the island, as they say, is not done with her. also, let's not forget the variables. if jacob's death triggered a time flash before the bomb went off, then perhaps the timeline where the bomb went off never happens. we didnt actually see a detonation of jughead's plutonium core, all we saw was a fade to white.

You mentioned Set and Ra but I think you should look at Set and Osiris. They are brothers and there is much about their tale that reminds me of Lost. Here is an part of the story concerning Set and Osiris, you see Set killed Osiris who ended up rising from the dead. "In that night, the oppressor, the murderer of Osiris, otherwise called the deceiving Serpent... calls the Sons of Rebellion in Air, and when they arrive to the East of Heaven, then there is War in Heaven and in the entire World." This just jumped out at me when I read it.

I love this. It complements my theory were i thought that with jacob's death, the survivors flash into the future and help fight the battle against evil
