First off, hello, I'm new to these forums so if this has been brought up before, sorry.

Anyway, I was just reading in another thread where someone mentioned something about how if the bomb explodes, and is indeed the incident, then they all die and everything ends up the same as it was before. However, im thinking... if the bomb explodes, and kills everyone, then why is Dr. Chang's arm non-existant in the later Dharma videos? Scratch that, why are there later Dharma videos?

Since Dr. Chang obviously wasnt killed by an explosion, then I feel like that bomb never went off. Meaning Jack didn't cause the incident, Radzinski did. And everything stayed the same as it always had.

Of course, I could have missed something, or be completely wrong. As I'm new, and have only watched each episode once.

If you watch back to the Season 2 episode Orientation, you will notice Chang says that there was an 'Incident' which lead to the creation of this computer chip. So I'd say that what ever the losties did (explode the bomb or not), it was the cause of this and, like Faraday said, What ever happened, happened. (Who ever are saying the Bomb actually exploded probably never thought of this)

So in the end, the Dharma people will now (after the explosion or what not in 1977) seal up the magnetic energy using cement and create this computer chip that will 'release' the energy build up every 108 minutes.

The finale episode was called 'Incident' and Chang mentioned 'Incident' (ok, its a common word to use, but Chang actually phrases it) so it was the same Incident that happened in 1977 that Chang was talking about in the video.

I think the two schools of thought are
1 they set everything off the way it happened and everything we've seen in the other season chang's arm and the dharma videos happenes the same way.

2. when they set the bomb if it compeltely changed everything and chang's arm could be there or he could be dead everything related to that incident and after would be completely different. And it would reset 815 making them fly right over the island and not crash.

I was positive the Pierre Cheng lost his arm when Richard's momma got hungry for Chinese; that episode really casts a shadow over everything I've believed.

Pierre Cheng's arm is still missing because that was the incident; they never changed anything.

It seems obvious to me that the incident was always caused by Radzinski, and Jack had always failed to prevent it. Richard had always watched them die, and afterwards the DI found the bomb and Chang designed the failsafe with it using Faraday's notes. That's what happened when Desmond turned the key, the bomb neutralized the energy. This time around Juliet made the difference by setting off the bomb and neutralizing the incident and the losties are sent back to the future instead of dying.

i don't know if it has been pointed out yet, but remember how desmond used to have flashes of people dying? he would try to save them, but no matter what he did, fate would find it's way to do what it was going to do. i think that is pretty good evidence that nothing anyone does can change what is going to happen.

by the way, hi everyone, i'm new here...

Hey SC and Welcome!!

And, what are you talking about. Dr. Chengs arm isn't ripped off. He's got 2 functioning arms in the orientation vids. BUT the incident could be the bomb and all that radiation. However, if the radiation fall out is there on the island why worry about gassing the DI as Ben did. They'll all die of radiation poisoning and of course, no one can get pregnant like they could before. I think they must reset things. otherwise next season will be such a mess! It's got to wrap next season afterall...

Although it is subtle, it is clear that he has a prosthetic left arm in the Swan orientation videos. He also does not move that arm in the video. You can see it on YouTube.
