i think the pen thing is to lay a pen on there throte so you can tell if thay are breathing... if you poke a hole in the throte thay die...

Naw, it's if their airway is obstructed. A last resort if the heimlich doesn't work, so they can survive until it is removed. You punch a hole in the trachea in the soft spot below the adam's apple. Why this is funny, though, is because Rose needs CPR- she isn't choking. Doing that would have no positive effect, and the rescue breaths would escape out the whole in her throat. :)
