At the begining of the Incident, Un Locke said that "You're still trying to prove me wrong," and Jacob said " you are wrong. " what does this mean?

I think Jacob was referring to his attitude toward people in that Jacob believed that people could change and become better, but the other guy believed that humans could never changed and that all they would ever do is destroy everything.
