Jack Shepard is going to be the new leader of the others. John Locke is dead. Ben just killed the guy he was working for. And Richard is just an advisor.
Jack Shepard was always destined to be thier leader.
I also stumbled upon a conversation between Locke and Jack in season 1 when they are talking about being a leader. Very interesting wording in there.
He may possibly hold this position until his nephew is ready to take over the crown. His nephew being Aaron

I'm hoping the new leader will be Walt.

Walt will play a role. And as much as i like walt, i think he might be evil... Thats just a guess and i hope i am wrong, but if he were so special and meant to be a great leader of the others, i dont think they woulda let him go back home.
Or maybe walt comes back in the future as a leader, but for now, its gonna be Jack.

Hmmmmmmmm...

The whole "Lord of the Flies" parrallel came to a head in season's 3 & 4 between Jack & Locke. Especially regarding the risk vs. rewards of leaving the island.

What I can appreciate about your suggestion is that when Jack was zonked out after leaving he was listening to "Scentless Apprentice" by Nirvana...

Apprentice to what I may ask? I think we can speculate on that.

Oh nice!! I just think alot of signs point towards Jack being the leader of some group. And right now i lean towards leader of the others. We have had it drilled in our head that Jack is a leader. I think he's the man for the job. He kinda had to take a step back when he got thrown in 1977. It was sawyers turf and he had to get his bearings straight. But after they flash(IMO that is what is happening), all are on equal ground. And Jack becomes big dog.
I harken back to a conversation in season 1 between Jack and Locke(before we knew of the different people already inhabiting the island)- Locke tells him "The others will be looking for a leader and i think your the man"(or somethin to that extent)....Just seems to prophetic

in the episode White Rabbit, jack almost falls off a cliff and dies because Christian, who now is presumably a form of Anti-Jacob, leads him there.

so it would make sense that, if jack is meant to lead Jacob's group (assuming that the others are indeed Jacob's people), Anti-Jacob would want to kill him!

Oh yeah..And also in that episode Locke is the one who peeps out of nowwhere to lend his hand out to Jack and save him... Now i am not a believer that John Locke has always been dead, but you have one ghost(christian) walking around in the middle of the jungle, then the next inute he disappears and in comes Locke to pull up jack. Funny how locke was right there in the same place as christian(but out of sight) in the middle of nowwhere and new where jack was...Interesting

Well they made a big deal out of Jack's tatoo, "he walks amoung us but is not one of us." and he is a "great leader" was his destiny and when he and John are fighting about believing Jack asks how it can be so easy to believe and yet now he says "it feels like the most right thing he's ever done." He could be but I don't think Christian is the anti-Jacob. I think he's the plan B for Jacob. But, Jack and Kate and Sawyer weren't on the list! If Jacob wanted them there and visited them as kids then why weren't they on the lists?? But, that might have been Ben fueled since he couldn't ever communicate with Jacob. Just seems like such a contradiction. And Christian told John "say hi to my son." The relationship is still recognized.

Maybe this is all a part of the "he changed the rules."

I'm rambling. I hate it when I do that!:o
